Learn to Play Disc Golf Clinics

Join Outdoor Chattanooga for our brand new Introduction to Disc Golf clinics! These free, 2-hour clinics are designed for beginners to be introduced to the wonderful sport of disc golf. The goal for this class is to teach you the basics of throwing a disc, the rules and terms of the game, and local courses and resources to help jump start your disc golf adventures.

The clinics will be hosted at Greenway Farms in Hixson, Tennessee.

The gear provided for this class will be the discs and baskets. All you will need to bring is athletic clothes, closed-toe shoes, and some stoke to learn about disc golf! Click here to register and reserve your spot today.

Covid-19 Note: At this time, the Mayor's executive order for City of Chattanooga buildings states that vaccinated individuals entering city buildings
will no longer need to wear a mask.
These Disc Golf clinics will be held outside so masks will not be required. However, individuals are still encouraged to maintain 6 feet of social distancing when possible.

Learn to Ride a Bike
March 14 | 4 PM
Let our League of American Bicyclists Certified Instructors teach you how to ride a bike using the gliding technique! With this simple and effective technique, most students are pedaling within an hour and off riding in no time.

Students will learn the ABC quick check, proper bicycle and helmet fit, safety checks, how gears and brakes work, balancing, starting and stopping, pedaling, the different types of bicycles, rules for sidewalks, greenway and neighborhood riding, roadway signage, hand signaling and more!

These free classes are offered every 2nd Monday of the month thanks to a partnership with Outdoor Chattanooga, the City of Chattanooga and the Friends of Outdoor Chattanooga as a way to give back to the community and create new, confident riders!

Classes are an hour and a half with a maximum of 5 people for quality instruction. Bikes and helmets are available to borrow, or you may bring your own. Reservations required in advance. Recommended for ages 5+

Learn to Skateboard class
March 19 | 9:30 AM - 11 AM
Just like in previous years, Outdoor Chattanooga is partnering with Chatt Town Skate Park to offer FREE learn to skateboard clinics! Hosted by Outdoor Chattanooga as well as local skateboarding enthusiasts and volunteers, these classes will introduce you to all things skateboarding! Whether you are just figuring out how to stand on a board or dialing in your kickflip, these classes are for you.

Each class is 90 minutes long. Outdoor Chattanooga will provide all the gear you need (skateboard, helmet, wrist guards, and elbow and knee pads). You are also welcome to bring and use your own equipment. The class will be taught by our wonderful local volunteers. Click here to register and reserve your spot today!

Outdoor Chattanooga is Hiring!
Are you passionate about the outdoors? Do you love sharing your outdoor knowledge and skills with others? Outdoor Chattanooga is looking to hire motivated, passionate and skilled Outdoor Recreation Specialists to join our team of industry professionals!

This position will be responsible for planning, instructing, and facilitating daily outdoor adventure and recreation activities for diverse populations including children, adults, and seniors in skill areas such as flat-water canoeing, lake kayaking, whitewater kayaking, archery, top-rope climbing/belaying, bicycle commuting, mountain biking, multi-day backpacking, and hiking. Minimum qualifications are a Class D Driver's license, ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and a current First Aid/CPR certification.

Outdoor Community Events
Throughout the month of March, River City Company, as well as countless volunteers and sponsors, will host fun, family friendly activities at the Chattanooga Green! These attractions will include an oversized see-saw installation, live entertainment, music, performances and so much more! Each weekend will feature diverse programming including a walking lantern parade hosted in partnership with Playful Evolving Monsters and Art120, a Rock 'N Cheer for the Chattanooga Marathon, a Health and Wellness weekend, a family-friendly St. Patrick's Day Celebration and an artist market featuring creatives from the Eastern Band of Cherokee. Outdoor Chattanooga Building
March 26-27 | 8 AM - 7 PM
Are you prepared to provide life-saving care in a setting where Emergency Medical Services are not readily available? If not, do you want to be?! MEDIC SOLO is coming to Chattanooga at the end of March to teach a unique 2-day, 20 hour course focusing on providing emergency care anytime professional help is not immediately available. Taught based in a setting of an urban disaster zone, rural area/remote travel not near a hospital, or natural area miles from an access point, this course gives a hands-on learning opportunity teaching you how to save life and limb during the critical minutes (or hours!) before EMS arrival.

Come join hundreds of racers and spectators on March 4-6 and enjoy the annual Erlanger Chattanooga Marathon! On race weekend, racers will explore Chattanooga's scenic qualities that define our community as the best outdoor destination. Runners will pass the Tennessee River and venture through our distinct downtown as they experience an innovative course unique to Chattanooga. Race weekend will be comprised of the marathon, half marathon, team relay, 5k and kids fun run. Whether you are trying to enjoy one of the races or spectate along the course, this weekend is guaranteed to be a blast!
