March Public Meetings

Hello Southwest Louisiana,

The Just Imagine SWLA planning team is inviting the public to attend a second round of public meetings March 15-17. During three community sessions, overall visions and goals, 10 catalytic projects and supporting recommendations for the 50-year resilience plan for Calcasieu and Cameron Parishes will be shared with meeting participants.

Just Imagine SWLA has used community input gathered over the last several months to create 10 catalytic projects for the 50-year resilience plan. The upcoming meetings will serve as testing workshops, providing the public with the opportunity to learn more and comment on the 10 projects.

Since the project’s kickoff in November, the planning team has analyzed more than 4,000 comments received from area residents through public meetings, small group sessions, website engagement, and social media. Input opportunities will continue to be available throughout the life of the planning process.

The Just Imagine SWLA team has the used public’s feedback to develop the overall visions and goals for the 50-year resilience plan for Calcasieu and Cameron Parishes, supporting plan recommendations, and the 10 catalytic projects . The visions relate to the five key planning categories: Economic Development, Housing, Community Planning, Natural & Cultural Resources, and Infrastructure.

Community Foundation SWLA is facilitating the planning process in partnership with Urban Design Associates, an internationally recognized planning firm, and many engaged citizens.
