AER Bulletin 2020-01: New Manual on the Decommissioning, Closure, and Abandonment of Dams at Energy Projects

On January 16, 2020, the AER released Manual 019: Decommissioning, Closure, and Abandonment of Dams at Energy Projects . The manual explains how the AER assess and process dam decommissioning, closure, and abandonment submissions that are required under section 34 of the Water (Ministerial) Regulation and part 9 of Alberta Environment and Parks’ Alberta Dam and Canal Safety Directive . It does not introduce any new requirements.

Manitoba: Informational Notice 20-01: Manitoba Oil and Gas Act Part 6 – Oil and Gas Lease Agents

On January 3, 2020, the Department of Agriculture and Resource Development announced that Part 6 of the Manitoba Oil and Gas Act requiring oil and gas lease agents to be registered is now repealed. The associated regulation and fees are no longer in effect as of June 17, 2019.

SK: IRIS Security Permission Set Changes - Pipeline Module Phase 1

On January 13, 20120 the Ministry of Energy and Resources (ER) announced implementation of a new pipeline module into the Integrated Resource Information System (IRIS) effective January 20, 2020. Please note, these permission set changes were originally implemented July 15, 2019 as part of the pipeline module Phase I but were not activated.

BCOGC Industry Bulletin 2020-03: Changes in Requirements for Pipeline Notice of Intent Submissions

On January 10, 2020 the BCOGC released information about changes to pipeline Notice of Intent (NOI) submission requirements effective immediately. The changes include enhancements to the NOI Repair or Replace Pipeline (in-kind) and addition of a new NOI for Integrity Activities.

Notification prior to commencement of Integrity Activities is not required. Results are to be submitted 30 days after completion of the annual program.

BCOGC Industry Bulletin 2020-04: Industry Review Period for Updated LMR Liability Model

On January 13, 2020 the BCOGC announced an updated method of estimating liability depending on the site and activity. The updated liability model has been integrated into the LMR Program on March 1, 2020.  Permit holders may access their liability information by visiting https://www.bcogc.ca/online-services .  For more information on the LMR Program please visit the LMR Program webpage .

BCOGC Industry Bulletin 2020-05: Updates to the Application Management System
On January 20, 2020 the BCOGC released updates to the Application Management System (AMS) effective January 30, 2020. Changes include shapefile validation, display of active road segments, an NEB technical pipeline right-of-way amendment details not available to view.
