Resource of the Month: STEM Learning Journeys Powered by Verizon™ and STEM Next

In partnership with Verizon™, STEM Next has curated bundles of lessons and activities from Verizon Innovative Learning HQ and created the following STEM Learning Journeys to help you implement these exciting STEM lessons and activities in your afterschool programs.

Each learning journey is packed with activities, lessons, and facilitation guides aimed at making STEM education accessible, engaging, and impactful. Explore these exciting themes designed for OST programs:

Climate Action: AI & the Ocean

Inspire your students to tackle real-world environmental challenges with lessons on ocean conservation, coding, and artificial intelligence (AI). Perfect for helping youth build critical STEM skills while exploring sustainability.

• Recommended Grades: 5-8
• Total Time for Journey: 5 hours

Earth Learning: Plesiosaur Encounter

Take your students on a journey through time with immersive virtual experiences and hands-on activities that explore our planet and beyond.

• Recommended Grades: 3-8
• Total Time for Journey: 2 hours

Next-Level Technology: Game Design

This series of six lessons provides an introduction into the big picture idea of game design. Youth will learn and apply the basic concepts of game design to design their own games.

• Recommended Grades: 5-12
• Total Time for Journey: 5-6 hours

Next-Level Technology: Design & Code

In this series of 9 lessons, youth will learn the basics of block coding to create their own coding project using Microsoft’s MakeCode.

• Recommended Grades: 6-8
• Total Time for Journey: 15 hours
