Long Branch High School
The 2018 Monmouth-Ocean County Special Olympics Track and Field Meet will be held Saturday, May 12 2018 at Long Branch High School.
JSRC Special Olympics Event Coordinator, has informed us that she is in need of a minimum of 30 (preferably more) volunteers to help with escorting athletes, scoring, timing, awards and other tasks associated with the event.
Volunteers should plan on being at the high school by 8:30 a.m. The meet is usually over by 2 or 3 p.m.. If you can't be there by 8:30 a.m. or can't stay the entire time, that's fine. Just let us know ahead of time so we can be sure we have appropriate coverage.
If you signed up to volunteer but are no longer able to, please contact Marianne Ploskonka and let her know as soon as possible.
Online registration for volunteers is now open. Please sign up. If you are coming with family or friends, please make sure everyone is signed up so we have an accurate count.
Parents: if your children require community service hours, this is an excellent opportunity for them. Please answer "
yes" for the community service letter question when you sign them up. That way we know whom to reach after the event.

NYC Marathon
Congratulations to Natarajan Gounder, who will be running the 2018 NYC Marathon with a guaranteed entry.
Alan Paschdag wishes to send a great big THANK YOU to all who have volunteered for the marathon over the years. He hopes that if you were not selected in the 2018 lottery that you will be with us in November to cheer on the runners.
Did you know that volunteering will get you into the raffle for the 2019 Marathon? Members get one chance for each year they volunteer and we go back three years to determine number of chances. If more volunteers to show up we could get two entries next year.
Also, if you have an interest in volunteering for any NYRR races, please list JSRC as your club. JSRC gets credit for other races where our members volunteer.
With that in mind, the NYC Half is coming up in March. It's another great chance to volunteer and the shift is not as long as the marathon. Alan is signed up to work the finish line.
