A Note From Dean Jermyn

As winter fades, we look ahead to the promise of spring and the fresh opportunities it brings. Match Day, a defining moment of the academic year, celebrated the Class of 2025’s dedication and years of hard work. The excitement was palpable as our students revealed their residency matches, marking another year of remarkable achievements and success.

Rowan-Virtua SOM Class of 2025 Celebrates Match Day Success

With Match Day envelopes in hand, 206 students from the Class of 2025 gathered in anticipation, ready to learn where they would begin the next phase of their medical training. Cheers erupted as they tore open their envelopes, revealing residency placements across a wide range of specialties. Nearly 100 percent of the class matched, continuing SOM’s tradition of exceeding the national match rate for

D.O.-granting medical schools.

This year’s match highlights:

• 56 percent matched into primary care programs

(Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics and OB-GYN)

• 51 percent matched to programs in NJ

• Two percent matched in Military

• Top specialty matches include Internal Medicine (35 percent), Family Medicine (14 percent),

Emergency Medicine (11 percent)

In addition to achieving a strong match, the Class of 2025 distinguished itself through research, service, and clinical excellence. Their contributions to patient care and community outreach have set a high standard, leaving a lasting legacy as they begin their medical careers.

Joanna Petrides, MBS, Psy.D. from the Departments of Family Medicine and Psychology and chair of the Rowan-Virtua SOM Wellness Committee, shares this month’s tip for improving wellbeing.

Many of us engage in “spring cleaning” of our homes. What if we applied that same principle to our offices and/or workspaces? Schedule some time across the next few weeks to comb through your workspace and remove things that are no longer needed. Ask colleagues if they could find use in items you no longer need or donate them at the local donation center or schools. A neater workspace is more soothing and increases productivity.

SOM Community Unites for Day of Giving

Rowan University's 11th annual Day of Giving raised a remarkable $431,475, including over $44,000 from Rowan-Virtua SOM through donations and challenges unlocked by our community's participation.

A major highlight this year was the addition of the student philanthropy scavenger hunt. Students searched for donor-sponsored owls across both campuses, each owl tied to a gift they could allocate to a SOM program that mattered most to them.

Thank you for coming together to make Day of Giving a success! We couldn't have achieved this without the continued support of our SOM community.

Missed out on this year's Day of Giving? There's still time to make an impact. Give today for a brighter tomorrow!

Chilly Chili Bar

On Wednesday, March 5, student doctors celebrated the approaching end of winter with a chili bar! At both campuses, they enjoyed beef or vegan chili with a variety of toppings.

All-Star Youth Sports Clinic

On Tuesday, March 11, the Office of Student and Alumni Engagement and 10 student doctors hosted a football-themed night of games and activities. Participants sported their favorite team shirts, with many Eagles fans in attendance. The evening wrapped up with soft pretzels and beverages.
