Become a Foster Parent!
Learn how at our upcoming open house!

Kitsap Humane Society helped over 900 animals through our Foster Care Program in 2015. The only thing limiting the number of animals KHS can help is the number of foster families we have available!  If you would like more information about joining the KHS Foster Care Program and becoming a foster parent for animals that are not yet ready for adoption, you are welcome to attend our upcoming Foster Open House. Foster Open House attendees are welcome to bring donated items from the KHS Wish List to help support animals that are currently in care in our Foster Program.

PSW Electric - A Valued Friend
PSW Electric is a valued partner of Kitsap Humane Society and has donated thousands of dollars in equipment and labor over the years to help make our facility better for the animals.
Owned by Scott Wakefield and his wife Heidi Harnett-Wakefield (a KHS dog walker), improvements made by PSW Electric in just the last year include:  fixing the dog walking trail lights which provides for better security/visibility for early morning and late evening dog walkers; wiring the new Dog Relaxation Room; fixing lighting issues in our Feline Isolation Room; providing an emergency backup power supply for the refrigerator that stores vaccines, in the event of a power outage; and assisting in the wiring outlets for our new X-ray machine. A big thank you to PSW Electric for everything you do for our animals.
Volunteer Spotlight
Darryl Ann Girardin

Darryl Ann Girardin recently started volunteering at Kitsap Humane Society by putting her photography skills to good use.

“I take photos of the adoptable dogs and cats at the Humane Society because great photos attract more attention, in hopes to shorten their stay at the shelter,” she said.

Originally from Maine, Darryl Ann lived in Kansas for three years before moving to Silverdale last summer. When she’s not working full time as a wedding photographer through her business Salt & Pine Photography, she can be found on outdoor adventures with her boyfriend and their two rescue dogs, Sophie, a Collie mix; and Delilah, a Vizsla mix. Darryl Ann says her favorite photo secret is a squeaky toy she keeps in her back pocket that she uses as a last resort to get those ears up.

“I love meeting all the faces that KHS rescues, and trying to bring out their unique personalities in their photos,” she said. “I’m so proud of the amazing work KHS does and I’m so glad to be a small part of it.”

Adorable Adoptable
Chloe

Hello, my name is Chloe (Intake #50064) and I’m looking for a home with lots of love where I can be the only dog. I’m housebroken and was primarily an indoor member of my previous family. I was adopted and returned because I didn’t get along with the other dogs in the home. I’m active and playful and I know several commands. I also know to stay off furniture and I’m good on a leash. I love car ride adventures too. Someone thought I was so special they even sponsored my adoption fee. You can meet me and other adoptable animals at Kitsap Humane Society, open six days a week. www.kitsap-humane.org
