got car?
Ol' Bertha, my donated 2000 Ford Expedition, is showing her age at over 250,000 miles. The remote locks and odometer are on the fritz, the driver's seat has rips and the engine is starting to run a little rough. I'm afraid her days on the road are numbered, so I'm going to trust God that someone out there is ready to donate a vehicle. I need something a little smaller this time, ideally with less than 100,000 miles...a compact SUV would be great or even a sedan.
And, yes, since One Man Show is a recognized 501c3 non-profit organization, this would be a tax-deductible donation for you and we can supply all the paperwork. If you don't have a car to donate, I would appreciate prayers to meet this need.

Dear Friends,
BAM! February 2013 is in the books and spring is just around the corner--and along with it, Easter, the start of the baseball season and Daylight Savings Time.
As the ministry moves through March, I continue performances of SEA CHANGE, my new drama/wors hip event featuring vignettes from the fisherman Peter. Dr. Jeffrey Smith, senior pastor of First United Methodist Church in Burleson, TX, wrote that
Sea Change is gives "a glimpse into the dynamic relationship between a person who is, in so many ways, like us and the Savior who loved us enough to die for us...(it's a) powerful way to share the message of Christ during the Lenten season!"
During Holy Week, I will present two popular monologues, Lazarus Speaks and Judas at four different churches, plus my modernized Peter sketch at an independent living center. On Easter Sunday morning, I will be the unknown traveler on the Emmaus road at a contemporary service. For a look at my complete schedule, go to my monthly calendar on the One Man Show website.
I appreciate the continued support of people like you who believe that creative ministry can often reach people in ways that traditional preaching cannot. As you read the articles in this newsletter, feel free to share with your pastor, lay leaders and friends in other churches (it's easy; just click the "Forward This Email" link below). Remember that I am not restricted by denomination or geographical location. You can also financially support this ministry by clicking on the PayPal button.
Blessings,
Mark Winter

★ALL-STAR BASEBALL REVIVAL!★
Crowds will hear the crack of bats again on Easter Sunday, March 31, when the Texas Rangers face the Houston Astros to open the major league season.
As baseball is my favorite sport, it was only natural that I developed a ministry around the National Pastime. My All-Star revival is a one-day program that k icks off on Sunday morning with my humorous monologue, Play Ball, featuring Nate the rabid Texas Rangers fan. When Nate meets a man named Jess, his priorities change and he gets out of the stands and on the field for God. The monologue is a modernized take on the story of Nathaniel in the Gospel of John.
Later in the day, I return as the "Almost Amazing Marko" to perform a baseball-themed magic show. Caps and baseball cards are turned into magical props, America is honored and the stories of great Christian ballplayers teach timeless moral and spiritual lessons. Over the last several summers, host churches have set up popcorn and sno-cone machines, decorated fellowship halls with pennants and served up nachos and hot dogs. This is a GREAT summer outreach event for children and their parents. Remember, I can come for a love offering with no minimum required + expenses, so this is an economical way to bring fresh, creative ministry to your church or community. Pass this along to your pastor or children's coordinator and let's PLAY BALL!

"Evangelist Mark Winter's All Star Baseball event isn't your grandparents' revival! Through the skillful use of magic and drama, Mark delighted 'kids' of all ages while driving home the need for a faith that is active and living, a faith that purposely serves and witnesses to those beyond the confines of the church. If you are looking for a non-traditional way to move your members to a deeper commitment to Christian discipleship and a faith lived out in their daily lives, Mark Winter's One Man Show just may be the answer you are looking for. It's taken me a year and ten evaluated speeches, but I finally reached the Competent Communicators level in my Toastmasters Club. Now I am going for the Bronze Advanced Communicators award by completing speeches in "The Entertaining Speaker" and "Humorously Speaking" manuals. Also in the course of this past year, I have won four trophies in Tall Tales & Humorous Speech contests, three of these for first place.
All this to say that I am ready, willing and available to speak at YOUR next keynote event, whether it's a banquet, fundraiser, youth or singles' rally, workshop or other program. Recently I entertained about 60 people at a Valentine's banquet with an original talk entitled "Love, Logging and Other Dangerous Pursuits." The event organizer said, "We received many positive comments about your ministry with us & looking forward to having you return!" |
