WORDS FROM WILL

This month marks the beginning of the 40 day season of Lent, which begins Wednesday, March 5.

It's a time when we can deepen our relationship with Jesus -- seeing him more clearly, loving him more dearly, and following him more nearly, day by day.

Here are some things you can reflect upon in your life this Lent as you draw closer to Jesus...

ASH WEDNESDAY SERVICE

DEACONS

Greetings from your 2025 Board of Deacons! We are responsible for the spiritual and secular affairs of the church. We have had our first meeting of the new year and welcomed new members Pam Jones and Diane Lyford.

I can tell you that we are excited about the year ahead. God has led us to this point to do the work Jesus asks us to do.

The Deacons are grateful for all the volunteers on Ministry Teams and Committees. Thank you all who volunteer at The Thrift Shop, Coffee House, Coffee Hour, Community Meals, Worcester Fellowship, Food Pantry and in any other way.

Together, we live out Trinity’s mission to fill its people with the love of God and share God’s love in all the world.

Please contact any one of us if you have a concern, question, suggestion or comment.

Blessings to all.

♪ SCOTT’S MUSIC NOTES ♫

Hello Trinity Church Community!

What a month February was!? I feel like the extra 6 weeks of Winter came back with a vengeance. Haha. With 2 canceled in-person worship services and a postponed community event, I just want to take a moment to applaud everyone for their hard work to make those events come together. And even though it is disappointing to not see the fruits of those efforts, I’m thankful that we were able to reschedule most of the musical elements for future services.

Preparing for the Seasons of Lent and Easter, below of are the Musical Happenings for the month of March:

  • Song of the Month: “Step By Step” - a praise chorus by Michael W. Smith Listen HERE
  • Scripture Response: “Day By Day” - Chalice Hymnal #599 Listen to the original version from the Musical, “GODSPELL” HERE
  • March 2nd - Traditional service hymns with Special Music provided by the Voice Choir.
  • March 5th - Ash Wednesday Service at Noon with hymns and reflective music.
  • March 9th - Double feature of music from the Hand Bell Choir
  • Music & Movement time with Mr. Scott for Faith Formation Kids after the service.
  • March 16th - Service Music and Special Music provided by the Worship Band
  • March 23rd - Special Music provided by the Adult Voice Choir
  • March 30th - HYMN SING! We’ll sing unsung requests from the “suggest a hymn” service. You can also send any new requests my way.

Looking ahead, be sure to mark your calendars for Palm Sunday (April 13th) and Easter Sunday (April 20th). Palm Sunday will be a festive service with Prelude Palms, Hand Bell Music, and Faith Formations Fun! The Adult Voice Choir is preparing 3 beautiful pieces to be included in the Easter’s morning Worship Service.

Until We Meet Again

Find God in the Music,

Remember to set your clocks ahead one hour Saturday night or Sunday Morning the weekend of March 9th.

TRINITY CHURCH DOCUMENTARY

BY KEVIN KWASNY

I am currently working on a documentary about Trinity Church of Northborough, focusing on how the church supported the community during the COVID-19 pandemic and how it continues to serve today.

I would like to reach out and begin organizing interviews and gathering information. Specifically, to:

  • Schedule Interviews at the Church – to arrange a time to conduct interviews, ideally after Sunday services.

  • Announce Interview Opportunities to the Congregation – I’d love to involve church members in sharing their experiences.

The documentary will highlight Trinity Church’s resilience, technological adaptation during Covid, and commitment to inclusivity. I plan to interview Pastor Will, Jean and Ned, and congregation members about their experiences. The film will also touch on the financial realities of maintaining the historic building, framing it as a call to recognize and support the church.

I appreciate all your help and look forward to working together to tell this story.

Best,

Kevin Kwasny

SPECIAL OFFERING

ONE GREAT HOUR OF SHARING

Special Offering on Sunday March 30, 2025.

The theme for the 2025 One Great Hour of Sharing® is Be the Light.

Orfelina (pictured above) works with families in the northern regions of Honduras to help them understand how to transform their families and communities through Agriculture. The list of things she does is mindboggling: Checking on local farmers' harvest. Monitoring water projects. Teaching the women in the community how to prepare more nutritious meals for their families. Chatting up community leaders for support. Running workshops for things like creating organic fertilizers and sprays.

But Orfelina doesn't just work with farmers and their families, she supports and encourages them. Visiting them in their homes. Bringing God's light to everyone she meets. And all of this is made possible through your giving, projects like these and thousands more around the world are changing lives. Transforming communities. And spreading God's light. Be the Light. Give to One Great Hour of Sharing.

Offering Envelopes will be available at Worship Service on Sunday March 30, 2025

OUTREACH TEAM

Help needed

A young mother of three children living in Northborough is looking for low-cost housing (the lease where she lives now is being terminated). If anyone has any ideas or leads, please contact Jean at jhleif@gmail.com.

Update on our Northboro Refugee Projects

There is one family that we are currently helping. Michael and his mom came to Northboro from Haiti two years ago.  Michael graduated from Algonquin last June and started classes at Quinsigamond Community College this fall.

Unfortunately, there is no public transportation from Northboro and Michael has no car.  Our team has been recruiting volunteers to give him rides back and forth to class. If you would like to help with rides, we have a sign-up genius: Click Here

The Outreach Team would like to thank you for all of your support and for helping Trinity make a difference to refugee families in Northboro.

ONASJ TEAM

ONASJ Update

There are many forms of Social Justice. In an effort to be more accessible and inclusive the ONASJ team requested the Property team install a doorbell at the Hudson Street entrance.

Thank you Property Team for installing it! Although it is wheelchair accessible it is not automatic and can be a difficult door to manage. The ringer is in the coat room area so if you hear it, please check the Hudson St entrance!

Also, we now have our accessibility information on our website. Thank you, Rita! “Wheelchair entrance on Hudson St. and Chair lift to 2nd floor Sanctuary.” This will also be included in future publications. We have learned that people will tend to assume a place is not accessible if it is not stated.

There are many ways to be accessible. We have large print Bibles, hearing devices and our welcoming attitudes!

BREAKFAST FELLOWSHIP

Our March meeting will be on March 15 at 8:30 AM.

February messed things up for kindness.  However, just because it isn’t “Kindness Week” doesn’t mean we can’t talk about kindness.

So, let’s talk about kindness this month: what it is, how it affects people, and times or places we’ve seen kindness.

To get started, I’m including the link to the Wikipedia article about kindness: Click Here.  I’ll send out a couple of other links to articles about kindness in a couple of weeks to the people who are on my mail list.

Let’s gather on March 15th at 8:30 AM for breakfast, fellowship and to talk about kindness.

For more information or to add yourself to the Saturday Breakfast Fellowship email list, please contact Tom at tomdan4@gmail.com

FAITH FORMATIONS

Faith Formations News !

"Children's Church" is scheduled for Sunday, March 9th. There will be an interactive Lenten based story and activities for the children.  Immediately following the church service, the children are invited to "learn to play the handbells" with Mr. Scott. The plan is to have the children play the handbells during service on Palm Sunday.

Children's Church - The children who want to participate will leave the sanctuary with Faith Formations leaders during this time. The children's classroom is located on the 2nd floor, just outside of the sanctuary. The children will participate in an inter-active, faith-based lesson followed by a children's music time with Scott after worship service.

We hope to see you there!

Our shawls and blankets have become quite popular and we need to keep on making more to comfort our members in need and the fellowship is great too!
