While we've had an especially cold and snowy winter, Lent is a sign that spring is approaching! And along with spring, of course, is the celebration of Jesus' resurrection at Easter.
As we prepare for that holy day, I want to thank everyone who attended and helped out at our Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper fundraiser and Ash Wednesday worship service.
Now that March has arrived, we have new events this month, news of which is found in this Tidings edition. And then, leading into Holy Week, we have our Palm Sunday and Maundy Thursday worship services, which Scott writes about in his "Music Notes."
As we prepare to celebrate the joy of Easter and springtime, I hope you'll find the time to join us for worship and fellowship this month as we continue being the loving church Jesus calls us to be.
In Christ's service,
Will

Hello Trinity Church Community!
We are off to a wonderful start into the Lenten Season. The music ensembles have represented our ministry extremely well! I hope everyone has been enjoying the music presentations so far this season. There is more to come as we continue our faith journey to Easter.
Here is a quick look at what special music March will bring us:
-
March 1st - The Voice Choir will share an arrangement of Sanctuary for the Special Music to pair with congregation hymns inspiring us to always strive to be more Christ-like.
-
March 8th - The Worship Band will provide Service Music and will present a Chris Tomlin song, titled At the Cross (Love Ran Red) for Special Music. One of our congregation songs will be an echo tune by Bryan Sirchio called Our God is Near, which we will use to “sing” the scripture reading.
- After the service, Faith Formation kids will have music practice with Mr. Scott to work on the song plan for Palm Sunday’s worship service. Digital practice resources for this song will be shared out through email.
-
March 14th - Members of the Voice Choir will join me in sharing a song titled For Everyone Born at our Kindness Week Chili Cook-off.
-
March 15th - The Low Voice Ensemble will sing How Great Thou Art that I arranged to highlight the growing skills of this small group (rescheduling from a snow-canceled service in January).
-
March 21st - Voice Choir will share a song titled I Am Jesus’ Little Lamb for the Special Music.
-
March 29th - Join us for a Palm Sunday Hymn Sing…sorta. We will create a joyous environment of worship to honor the historical arrival of Jesus into the city of Jerusalem. From starting the service with our traditional Palm Processional Prelude and the children singing for the Faith Formations Moment, to the inclusion of uplifting hymns so we can make a “joyous noise to the Lord” and the Hand Bell Choir performing He Is Exalted for the Special Music, this will be a Worship Service you will not want to miss.
Our Song of the Month for March is an old hymn called O the Deep, Deep Love of Jesus by Thomas John Williams. The tune may be unfamiliar to some, but it has its origins in aural-traditions when people learn by listening to others. To help the Worship Band prepare to accompany it, I’ve created THIS RECORDING to show how it goes. You can read the original lyrics and some of its history on THIS WEBSITE. We will also continue to use the same 3-fold A-men (#314 Chalice Hymnal) to close our services.
Looking ahead into April, you will not want to miss our Holy Week and Easter Services. At the Maundy Thursday Service on April 2nd at 6pm, we will start the evening with Pastor Will leading us through Holy Communion prior to the Voice Choir presenting a powerful and dramatic presentation of a Holy Week Cantata, titled Colors of Grace: Lessons for Lent by one of my favorite choral arrangers, Joseph M. Martin. The intention is for this service to create a representation of Christ’s journey to the cross and leave the attendees with a meaningful contrast to the Celebration Worship we will experience on Easter Sunday on April 5th. Be on the look out for more Easter details coming soon.
As always, remember that the power of the church is the people. When we come together for the purpose of God’s work, great things will happen. Music brings people together.
Until We Meet Again,
Scott Arnold (he/him)
Music Director of
Trinity Church of Northborough

Happy March to everyone!
We have enjoyed the first couple of months with the kids. In February we talked about all things love. Love of God, our Family, and our Community. The children helped us start to decorate our children's church room with messages of love.
March 8th -- we will be talking about Lent and what it is all about.
March 22nd -- we will be talking about Palm Sunday. We will of course have a story or scripture, along with a craft and discussion with the kids. The children will also be learning a song to perform for the church on Palm Sunday! It is a busy month in Faith Formations.

CAPITAL PROJECTS UPDATE
The scaffolding around the church steeple provides visible evidence to the Northborough community that our capital projects are underway.
Valley Restoration LLC is hard at work reinforcing the sanctuary roof and beginning the process of detaching the spire from the tower, which is targeted to occur in late March or early April.
The Exterior Restoration & Maintenance Task Force has identified other important building needs and is conducting an informational meeting on March 1st. to update the congregation on the projects proposed to be financed by the proceeds of the capital campaign.
Jill White of the UCC Church Building & Loan Fund, Trinity’s capital campaign consultant, will interview a small group of church members during the third week of March to gauge the fund-raising potential of the campaign.

The Call To Care team would like to ask our congregation if there is anyone who would benefit from a friendly caring call from someone on our team just to keep in touch.
We can call weekly or monthly or whenever it’s needed.
We are here and if you or anyone you know would benefit from a call from our team please contact Linda F. at: lmferraro25@gmail.com or Michele W. at michele.wheelock@icloud.com.
