Pedal with Purpose: Upcoming Events on the Trail

As 2026 marks the 25th anniversary of September 11, the September 11th National Memorial Trail Alliance invites communities to come together in remembrance along the 9/11 National Memorial Trail, a living tribute connecting the sites and stories of that day. This milestone year offers a powerful opportunity to honor the lives lost and pay tribute through meaningful experiences across the Trail.

Leading this commemorative year is is the 25th Anniversary Cycling Challenge, a series of more than 30 rides taking place from May through October along or near the 9/11 National Memorial Trail. Together, these opportunities invite participants to move with purpose, honoring heroes with every mile, and standing united in reflection and remembrance.

Add Your Voice to the Story of September 11th

The September 11th National Memorial Trail Alliance invites you to take part in a new way to engage with the Trail through the recently launched website, 911trail.org.

Visitors can now contribute to a growing collection of stories and memories that reflect the impact of September 11, 2001.

Through the Memory Wall, individuals can share where they were on September 11, 2001, contributing to a collective record of remembrance that preserves the personal experiences of that day.

The website also features Hero Story submissions, inviting individuals to honor those affected by September 11, 2001 by sharing the stories of loved ones who lost their lives, survived, responded, or continue to live with the lasting impact of that day.

The Alliance recently received its first user-submitted story through the new website, a powerful tribute written by a brother in honor of Edward Porter Felt, who was aboard United Airlines Flight 93. The story reflects on a life defined by compassion, intellect, and deep love for family.

The Alliance encourages all members of the community to share their own stories and reflections, helping ensure that the lives, legacies, and personal experiences of September 11, 2001 are never forgotten.
