My dear GEM Family:
We are in the heart of Lent and in two weeks will enter into the Sacred Mysteries of Christ’s passion, death, burial, and resurrection, considered the Holiest Season of the liturgical calendar. We had a special prayer intention that a deeper process of re-creation would take place in our hearts during Lent, transforming our relationship with the Blessed Trinity and all our human relationships. Such transformation would carry over into our daily lives, creating an eagerness on our part to work zealously for the expansion of God’s kingdom in the hearts of those around us. While the Sun and rain transform nature, manifesting God’s glory in lavish tones, the Divine Son, our Risen Lord, does it for our hearts, renewing them through His Sacred Mysteries in ways we could never fathom. During Lent, we have spent extra time in prayer and spiritual reading, pondering on the salvific passage of Christ’s passion, crucifixion, death and burial. And we have supported our journey to Calvary and into Jesus’ resurrection with fasting and good works. Our prayer and hope for everyone in GEM is that our Lenten pilgrimage will prepare us well to experience the Risen Lord’s peace and joy and receive the unassailable assurance that in Jesus we are victorious over Satan, sin, and permanent death! The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us and we live in His glory, the glory as of the Father’s only Risen Son, full of grace and truth.
We have gotten the ball rolling on our GEM pilgrimage to the Holy Land. Registrations have begun coming in. We will keep sending out our flyer about the pilgrimage from January 25 to February 3, 2020 periodically, to give you all the information for registration. The season of discerning whether the Holy Spirit is prompting you to visit the land of the Holy Family and registering as pilgrims is upon us. If you have made up your mind believing that it is God’s desire for you, please register, the sooner, the better. We are hopeful that God who has begun a good work through this endeavor will bring it to a holy completion for all of us.
The GEM weekend retreat for Michigan at the Holy Cross Formation House on the Notre Dame Campus from March 1-3, 2019 was a time of much intimacy with the Lord through many hours of Adoration, Eucharistic Celebrations, and the Sacrament of Reconciliation. The Holy Cross community was warm and hospitable and provided the perfect environment for a very fruitful retreat.
Our Seminar on
A School of Prayer and Holiness
will be held in a few days, on April 6, 2019 at our Conference Center, High Hill, Texas. We are expecting a good response and ask your prayers that the Seminar will help all the participants pray their vocal prayers with greater meaning and fruitfulness. If you have not yet registered, please check our website
for more information.
We continue to receive positive feedback about our daily Spiritual Companioning Reflections. They have become an effective way of exploring central topics that are significant milestones in any disciple’s journey into the heart of God. We have scrutinized the question,
‘Who do you say I am?’
looking at Jesus’ own answer from His words, the replies given to him by others, and our own response to Jesus. At the present moment, we are exploring the question,
‘Who does Jesus say the Father is?’
Currently, we are considering what Jesus tells us about His Father. Then we will consider what others in the New Testament tell us who the Father is, and finally, explore our own response as to who the Father has become for us. In similar fashion, we will explore other central questions such as,
“Who does Jesus and others say the Holy Spirit is, Who does Jesus and others say a Disciple is, What does Scripture and others say about the Discernment of Spirits, Why does Mary hold such a central place in Catholic Spirituality, etc.”
We hope to build a sizeable archive that will help in the formation of many ardent disciples who will become powerful witnesses for the Kingdom of God. Again, we request you to send to
email addresses of family and friends who would be interested in receiving our weekly SCR’s.
We continue to pray that 2019 will be a blessed year for you, that your commitment to holiness will grow stronger and deeper, that your desire to witness to Jesus by helping others to know Him in a personal and intimate way will intensify. Please continue to pray for God’s Embrace Ministries, that we serve God’s covenant family wherever we are, generously and joyfully.
May you be blessed in God’s Embrace! You are in our daily prayers.
