Future U Updates: Progress, Your Vote, and What's Ahead!

Hi Beach Family,

As we move further into the spring semester, I’m excited to share a few key updates on the Future U project and what’s happening across campus.

Construction Progress

We’ve reached a major milestone in the transformation of the University Student Union (USU). Demolition of the East and West “Sphinx Arms” is now underway, marking a visible step forward in preparing the space for its next chapter. These early phases of construction are always a bit bittersweet—but they are essential to creating a more modern, dynamic and student-centered facility for generations to come. Be sure to check out the latest progress photos below and follow along as the site continues to evolve.

Your Voice Matters: ASI Elections

With ASI Student Government Elections taking place this week, I want to encourage every student to make their voice heard. The University Student Union and Student Recreation & Wellness Center Board of Trustees (URECBOT) plays a critical role in overseeing ASI facilities and guiding major initiatives like the Future U project. The students elected today will help shape the decisions that impact your campus spaces tomorrow.

Voting is a powerful way to ensure your priorities and vision for the future of our campus are represented. To vote, visit the ASI Elections chicklet on your Single Sign On (SSO). Voting closes at 11:59 p.m. on March 19.

Looking Ahead

As we approach spring break and the final stretch of the semester, there are so many opportunities to connect, unwind and celebrate with your Beach community. From campus events and wellness programs to signature ASI experiences, we hope you take time to enjoy everything happening around you.

Wishing you all a safe, restful and well-deserved spring break. Thank you for being part of this journey as we build the future of The Beach—together.

Until next time, Go Beach!

Chair, URECBOT
