TEAMWORK
Happy March! March holds a special place in my heart - it’s the month I met my husband and learned all about March Madness. One of our first dates was watching Illinois play Syracuse to advance to the final four. I became an avid basketball fan, and we look forward to March Madness every year. Through the years, I have learned the immense value of teamwork and how we are better together.
In the spirit of March Madness, we are gearing up a team challenge ‘Each One Reach One.’ In 2024, help us score with new teammates. We are calling on you, our most valuable players and greatest ambassadors, to continue building our volunteer program. We are looking for more dedicated, passionate, and caring individuals like YOU to join our winning program making a difference in the lives of seniors. Good people know good people, and you are the best of the best. Each new volunteer becomes a valued addition to our amazing team.
As you know, we couldn’t do what we do without you. Why the big push to recruit new volunteers? The senior population is growing exponentially and with that our care receiver network is growing every day. To continue meeting their needs and expanding our impact, we too need to always be growing. By inviting others to join our volunteer family, we’re building a stronger, more connected community dedicated to making a difference. And research shows volunteering is associated with improved health and well-being. It's a win/win!
You can help by sharing your story and spreading the word - think of friends, family, neighbors, colleagues, or anyone in your network who might be interested in joining us. Ask about leaving volunteer information cards at your church, homeowners association, hair salon, coffee shop, local businesses or library. Invite and join them at one of our upcoming prospective volunteer info meetings. Not only will you be helping us build a winning team, you’ll be sharing the rewards of volunteering with others.
For any questions or assistance, please do not hesitate to reach out. The best tool for recruiting others is by being honest and by being YOU. We also have volunteer cards at the office for you to share with friends and family.
Let’s rally together and “Each One Reach One” in 2024.
With Warm Regards,
Kerri Sutter

Current Volunteer Opportunities
We are always welcoming new volunteers to our team, however, below are some specialized needs we have.
Intake Team - As the senior population grows, our care receiver population also increases. Just as volunteers have an onboarding and orientation, our care receivers have an onboarding and assessment. We are looking for volunteers with a healthcare, hospice, or social work background to be part of this vital team. This volunteer would enjoy meeting new people with variable demographics, have strong written and verbal communication skills, and pay close attention to details. You are often the first face of Senior Care Volunteer Network. While assessing the new care receivers, you are also welcoming them to our community and sharing our services with them. Approximately 6-10 hours monthly. Training provided, please reach out to Silvia, Intake Coordinator, to see if this is a fit for you.
Lending Closet Support - Did you know SCVN lent out nearly 1,500 pieces of medical equipment last year and we are on target to do even more this year. This is only possible with our committed volunteers. We are looking for volunteers who enjoy cleaning while making a difference - have 1 to 2 hours a week, bi weekly or even once a month to help clean medical equipment at our SCVN office. This opportunity is incredibly flexible-your schedule, your jams-making a huge contribution in the community. Training provided. Bonus, we have great coffee, teas and cocoa at the office and often treats. Reach out to Yolanda, Operations & Lending Closet Coordinator or Kerri, Volunteer Coordinator, to set up an appointment today!

Thanks for making it Something to Talk About!
Our Leap Day celebration at the Vixen was a huge success - largely in part to you! To those of you who gave your time, resources and even helped us spread the word - thank you! The proceeds of the event will directly help our senior neighbors as our population of Care Receivers continues to grow.
