March 2022 Walk Leader Update
Wednesday May 11th is Nova Scotia walk day!

Let's see how many people in the province will participate in a walk on May 11th!

We are inviting leaders like yourself to pledge to lead a walk in your community that day.
We are also partnering with Municipalities and libraries across the province to promote and/organize walks. Individuals can sign up to join one of the walks that day

If you already lead a weekly walk, consider having a Wednesday walk that week.

If you are willing to lead or co-lead a walk on the day, please register HERE . We will then be in touch with promotional materials and more details about the day.

Restrictions are being Lifted!

As no doubt you have heard, Nova Scotia is lifting public health restrictions over the next few weeks. Starting immediately, therefore, we no longer require leaders or participants to show proof of vaccination to participate in walk groups.

By March 21, people will not be required to wear a mask or social distance. All that said, please use your own judgement and still feel free to mask up when you wish.

You may also want to start a social time after the walk if you wish, i.e., have coffee or tea together. Obviously, please use your own judgment on this and we realize it depends on your comfort level as a leader and that of your participants. This will be easier once the weather allows the social part to be outdoors. In the meantime, you can encourage members to bring along a thermos of tea or coffee.
Current Walks

Please keep us updated if you are starting or stopping a walk or changing location so we can update the web page.

In the coming weeks, we have several new groups starting including Amherst, Parrsboro, Yarmouth and Halifax areas.

Walk Leader Training

Our next walk leader training session will be held Tuesday March 22 at 5:00 p.m. Please share with anyone who might be interested in getting trained including your participants. Please let them know they can train to be a walk leader and still stay as part of your group. They don't have to go off and form their own group. Having several leaders per group is one of the ways the Scotland program sustains itself.

HERE is the link to register.
