Coming Together for Rowyn Grace
On Saturday, March 14th, the gym at Long Island Lutheran High School (LuHi) was filled with energy, competition, and community as 32 teams took the court, from U9 players all the way to adults. Watching athletes of all ages play the game they love while supporting a meaningful cause was truly inspiring.
One of the most special parts of the day was seeing The Viscardi Center wheelchair athletes take the court once again at Magro Madness. This year, a few able-bodied players joined Viscardi in several games, making for an especially meaningful display of inclusion, teamwork, and the true spirit of the event.
This year, we also introduced official tournament jerseys, and seeing every player proudly wearing them brought a whole new level of excitement and unity to the day.
Magro Madness is more than just basketball. It is about bringing people together to support the mission of the Michael Magro Foundation, helping children and families facing pediatric cancer feel supported, seen, and surrounded by community.
Thank you to the players, families, volunteers, sponsors, and supporters who made the day so special. The smiles, the competition, and the spirit in that gym reminded us exactly why we do this.
A special thank you to the team that organizes this event, Jimmy Montana, Ed Hebron, and Julia Bentrawicz, for making this tournament such a success. Together, we raised $13,223!
On behalf of all of us at the Michael Magro Foundation, we are already looking forward to Magro Madness 2027.
