Welcome Back, Authors!

After taking a break from our regular events schedule, for the holidays and for the deepest winter months, we are back in action this month, welcoming two of our wonderful local authors for readings! We know the weather can still be unpredictable, but we have our fingers crossed and our snow tires on, so we are ready.
(If a big storm does decide to drop in on one of our event days, please call the store and/or check our Facebook page for updates.)

March is the month to give any cabin fever the boot, so put these dates on your calendar and join us for these celebrations of writers in our community who are seeing their work go out into the world.

Join the Breakfast Book Club at The Flower Basket for tea and a discussion of My Sister the Serial Killer a fast paced and darkly funny novel about sisters and the wickedly sharp edges that can be hidden beneath a beautiful surface.

* Note: The Flower Basket is hosting March's Breakfast Book Club in their tea room. Tea will be available to purchase. The Flower Basket is located in the Daniels Building, across the swinging bridge - 156 Daniels Road, Hardwick. (Parking available!)

Book Club drop-ins are always welcome - no commitment is required, and new voices and perspectives are appreciated!

Celebrate Paper Bag Princess Day!
Saturday, March 7th - 10:30am Story Time
Robert Munch's beloved picture book The Paper Bag Princess Day marks its 40th anniversary this year, and we are joining in the celebration on March 7th, which has been declared Paper Bag Princess Day.

Join us for a story time and crown making activity. Wear a paper bag dress from home or bring in a paper bag and we'll help you fashion one!

Anyone who brings in or wears a paper bag will receive 20% off the purchase of a copy of The Paper Bag Princess.

Sean Prentiss - Crosscut
We are excited to host Woodbury writer Sean Prentiss's first reading from his new book of poetry, Crosscut.

The inspiration for these poems came from Sean’s experience as a rookie trail-crew leader guiding a motley collection of at-risk teens for five months of backbreaking work in the Pacific Northwest. His lines are infused with the rhythms and sounds of axe and rake and hoe and capture both the poet's interior life and the transformation of a handful of individuals into a real crew.

Anne-Marie Keppel - Death Nesting
Join us in welcoming Anne-Marie Keppel who has drawn on her studies and experience as a death doula to write Death Nesting. Her book explains the concepts behind the work of a death doula and provides a guide to those who wish to better understand the natural process of death and how to be with the dying.

Anne-Marie will speak about her book and her work, answer questions, and invite discussion.

The Henna Artist, by Alka Joshi takes place in India in 1955 and 56 and is about a woman who had left her abusive husband through an arranged marriage disgracing her family. We see how she manages her new life intertwined with the story of her young sister while learning about the caste system, foods, herbal medicines, customs and culture and more. Good writing, interesting story, and a happy ending!
