March 2024

The war in Gaza continues as, for the third time, the US vetoed a draft UN Security Council resolution demanding a ceasefire in Gaza. Darien explains the decision to make the 2024 WILPF Congress virtual. The Disarm Committee reports on actions to call for a ceasefire in Gaza, as well as a report on the third anniversary of the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons and the current status of the Doomsday Clock, while the Jane Addams Branch shares the story of Ellen Siegel, a Jewish-American nurse and activist who was in Beirut for the 1982 massacre in Sabra and Shatila. Their next meeting will focus on Congress 2024. Join the upcoming PeaceWalk, and read about peace progress in Columbia, the PFAS Coalition's efforts to create legislation in Vermont and innovative ideas from the CCS Committee.
