Library News - Fines are back.

If you have overdue items, now is the time to return them.

The book return is open 24/7 at each of our three libraries.

Starting Monday, March 1st all overdue items will accumulate fines daily.

All items that are returned will be quarantined for a minimum of three days. If you return an item on the day it is due, and then see it has not been checked in and a fine has been added to your account, please be assured that the fine will be cleared after the quarantine period.

We have a large collection of classic movies and feature films, documentaries, travel and fitness DVDs. Whatever the occasion, check out our impressive DVD collection.

New this month, patrons are welcome to borrow as many DVDs as they want.

Your Online Library - Little Pim

With Little Pim, your child will discover that learning a new language is fun.

No prior language knowledge needed.

Each episode is about 5 minutes.

Trivia Night

What Happened in 2020?

How much do you remember about last year or is it all a blur? Test your knowledge of the strange, yet historic year of 2020 at our March trivia night!

Thursday, March 25th at 8:30 p.m.

Design a Mask Contest

Are your average masks too boring? Do you love to draw or paint? Want your own art on a mask to wear around town?

Children, teens, and adults may enter.

Winners in each age category will receive a mask with their own original creation on it!

Move Forward Challenge: February, March, & April

STEP 1: Register! Online (link below), by phone 705 652-8623, or email Kacie.

STEP 2: Get active! Walk, run, roll, bike, ski. Do anything either indoors or outdoors to propel yourself forward. Keep track of your mileage. Ensure physical distancing from others at all times.

STEP 3: Submit mileage. At the end of the month, email your mileage to Kacie. Participants who submit mileage will be entered in a grand prize draw. Each month the prize will be a $50 Gift Card from Runner’s Life in Peterborough.

If you are looking for a great read to motivate you to get outside and move forward, here is a list of great books available to borrow from the Selwyn Public Library. All of these books feature human resilience and fascinating athletic stories.

Each month we will watch a movie on Hoopla (free for library patrons), then join the optional zoom meetings to discuss them! No need to be a movie buff.

Snowbird Social

In an effort to keep our "Snowbirds" busy this winter, we have created the Snowbird Social! Weekly activity pages for adults.

Online Teen Program - March

Red Maple Reading Club: Grades 7 & 8

Read at least 5/10 nominated new titles by Canadian authors this winter and join grade 7 and 8 students across North America who get the chance to make one Canadian author famous!

Special book based activities, Voting, and prizes.

At this time, there are no in branch meetings for this program this year. February-April.

Magical Muggle Online Trivia Night

Think you know a thing or two about muggles? Bring your family for the latest in our Potter-themed online trivia nights. All ages welcome.

Thursday, March 11th at 7:00 p.m.

Leprechaun Trap Building Contest

Can YOU engineer a Leprechaun trap? Use LEGO or whatever you have on hand to make the best Leprechaun trap around.

Send in a photo or video of what you designed! Prizes in each age category.

Entries are due by Wednesday, March 17th, 2021.

Nature Nuts Spring Trivia

Nature Nerds unite! We’re hosting another family trivia night based on nature in the Kawarthas and this time the topic is spring! All ages.

Thursday, March 18th at 7:00 p.m.

Wednesdays on Zoom. Join Kathleen and Corny for active and

engaging programs with stories, songs, games and fun.

Begins Wednesday, March 24th, and runs for 8 weeks. 9:30 - 10:00 a.m.

Spring Babytime at Home (Ages Birth - 2)

Fridays on Zoom. Bounces, tickles, rhymes and stories for your young one. This is an active experience for an adult engaging with their child.

Begins Friday March 26th and runs for 6 weeks. 9:30 - 10:00 a.m.

Silver Birch Club (Gr. 3-6 age range)

Each chapter of This Will Make It Taste Good is built on a flavor hero—a simple but powerful recipe like her briny green sauce, spiced nuts, fruit preserves, deeply caramelized onions, and spicy pickled tomatoes.
