March for our Lives
There are several ways to participate in the weekend’s youth-led March for our Lives, starting tonight!
Sign Making at Community Night
Thursday, March 22, 6:30pm @ UUCP

We’ll have poster and sign making supplies out at Community Night Dinner for you to be creative. We’ll work together on simple, clear messages to bring to Saturday’s march.
Empowerment Gathering
Friday, March 23, 7:00pm @ Encanto Community Church

This is a collaborative service that will bring together the voices of youth, parents, teachers, and elected officials (including UUCP members). All are invited to attend! Youth are invited to stay after the service and participate in an overnight with discussions and preparation for the march. Contact Emrys if you have questions.

Encanto UCC is at 2710 N 7th Ave., extra parking is available on Windsor Ave. [ google map ]
March for our Lives
Saturday, March 24, 10:00am @ AZ State Capitol (1700 W Washington St)

Updates and information about this event are available on Facebook . The rally starts at 10:00am, and the march will start at 11:00am.

Carpooling: If you’d like to share a ride, meet at UUCP at 9:00am to leave by 9:15. Contact Rev. Margret to let her know if you can offer a ride, or would like to ride with someone else.

Meeting at the Capitol: We will have our vertical “Side with Love” banner to help us find each other. We will gather near 17th Ave. and Adams at 9:45, then move towards the stage to hear the speakers by 10:00am. **The annual Pride Run will have Central Ave closed through downtown Phoenix, so plan to use the freeways to get to the 7th or 19th Ave exits to come to the capitol.** Free parking should be available in Wesley Bolin plaza, or the state parking lots on Adams & 15th Ave.

Helpful info: The high temperature should be 80, so bring water, some snacks, and dress appropriately. There will be food trucks and port-a-potties at the Capitol.

Background Information:
Governor Ducey has released a plan aimed towards improving school safety, however the local student organizers have deemed it unsatisfactory. They have released their own plan, which is available to read, that is more comprehensive and is tuned into the desires of Arizona’s students, teachers, and parents. Read their plan.
