E-Newsletter: March 2026

March is Women's History Month

“Before the shelter, there was the dream.”

When one of our Founding Mothers spoke those words in Laurel House's early years, there were no walls yet, just courage, compassion, and a bold belief that survivors of domestic violence deserved safety, dignity, and hope.

What began as a dream became a shelter.

What became a shelter became a lifeline.

What became a lifeline became a legacy.

In recent years, another one of our Founding Mothers shared these words:

“I give because of the wonderful work you've done expanding our little dream of hope.”

From a small dream to a growing movement, all because of you.

Today, Laurel House continues to carry out the vision of its Founding Mothers by serving and empowering survivors of domestic violence by providing emergency shelter, counseling services, medical advocacy, community education, immediate crisis response, and so much more.

The dream lives on and it's stronger than ever.

To every advocate, survivor, volunteer, donor, and supporter: thank you for helping us expand that little dream of hope into safety, healing, and new beginnings for so many survivors.
