As we welcome the month of March, we are reminded of how important it is to support and prepare our students for a successful kindergarten journey. Kindergarten is a momentous milestone in a child's academic and developmental journey, with long-lasting effects on their future growth and accomplishments.

Helping your child have a seamless transition into kindergarten involves several steps. It's helpful to register early if your child is starting kindergarten in the upcoming academic year.

Even though fall classes may seem far away in March, registering in the springtime allows students, families, and schools to get ready for the exciting start of the new school year together.

Did you know that it's Women's History Month?

The theme for 2024 is Women Who Women Who Advocate for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion.

This month, we can introduce our children to the significance of Women’s History Month. Begin by laying the groundwork, ensuring they grasp the essence of celebration through conversations about those we honor in our lives currently (for example, through birthdays, Mother's Day, etc.) These occasions serve as reminders of the people who hold significance in our hearts. With this foundation, we can then further explore this important month!

Here are a few additional ways to celebrate Women's History Month with your child:

Watch a video about Women's History Month - like this one from Sesame Studios.

Cook a favorite dish passed down from the women in your family and discuss any memories you have tied to the dish and the woman/women who gave you the recipe.

Choose a historical figure to learn about each week day. For example, have a dance party and then read a book about Misty Copeland, make a bus craft and discuss Rosa Parks, and/or visit the zoo in order to start a conversation about the contributions of Jane Goodall.
