NEW FROM GPB EDUCATION
As Georgia educators expand the world for their students, class after class, we think they need a place to share…and learn. We are excited to introduce a new podcast series presented by the Georgia Department of Education and GPB Education. Each episode features teachers who are approaching the curriculum in innovative, impactful ways. Forget talk! This…is teacher talk! Classroom Conversations is available everywhere you listen to podcasts.
SPOTLIGHT ON PROFESSIONAL LEARNING
Join GPB’s education outreach team for an exploratory overview of our comprehensive digital content and virtual teaching tools for grades PK-2 early childhood science education, including thousands of standards-based videos, interactives, and lesson plans available at no cost to all Georgia students and teachers through PBS LearningMedia.
GRADES PRE K-2
This special collection provides a set of early reading/language arts resources, organized by early elementary and preschool literacy skills.
GRADES 3-8
This video series introduces key Common Core concepts in 4th-8th grade mathematics. Each video focuses on building conceptual understanding of a topic, so that students understand the “how” and “why” behind mathematical problem solving. Use these videos with your students as topical introductions to topics including integers, the concept of ratios, unit rates, percent, and division with fractions.
GRADES PRE K-5
Dinosaur Train sparks children's interest in life science and natural history. As they explore a variety of animals, children develop the inquiry skills and knowledge needed to help them think, talk and act like paleontologists.
GRADES 6-12
Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and the Pulitzer Prize-winning historian David M. Kennedy come together to ask: what ideals do we share in common? Their spirited inquiry frames the stories of citizen-activists striving to bring communities together across deepening divides. In this collection find classroom ready video clips to support teaching with American Creed.
Facing History and Ourselves is also hosting a student essay contest open for submissions March 1 through March 28.
GRADES 9-12
Located in Atlanta, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is probably the most recognized health institution in the world. It’s also one of Georgia’s biggest employers! Along with Teachable Moments about the CDC’s history, and definitions of epidemiology, mutation, and antibiotic resistance, we also learn that you don’t need a doctorate in biology to work here.
GRADES K-12
This Atlanta Symphony Orchestra collection offers interactive lessons and ASO masterclasses. Learn about different sounds and instruments, how to prepare for an audition, and more!
