March is National School Social Worker Month

JCSD family, parents, students, and stakeholders,

We invite you to join us in celebrating and praising our school district's social workers. They are the people who are at the forefront of fighting poverty, hunger, and child homelessness. Our communities have many needs, but we know that these qualified, compassionate, and hardworking social workers are up to the challenge. We are grateful for the dedication our school district's social workers show every day, ensuring that we are meeting the holistic needs of all children under our care.

RSAE Leaders Read to RES Scholars

The students of Ridgeland Secondary Academy of Excellence MCJROTC recently paid a visit to Ridgeland Elementary School to share their love of reading with their younger peers. It's highly commendable that these young leaders are taking the initiative to be positive role models in their schools.

March Capital Projects Update

The Jasper County School District is working on several capital projects. This video provides a quick update on these projects. 

ARP ESSER III COVID relief funds paid for the JCAP demolition and modular classroom projects.

The sports facility improvements to the Ridgeland campus are funded by the remaining funds from the one-cent penny sales tax bond referendum passed in the early 2000s.

New Dental Office on Hardeeville Campus

A new dental clinic on the Hardeeville Campus has opened its doors with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Thanks to the efforts of the Beaufort-Jasper-Hampton Comprehensive Health Service team, children can now receive dental cleanings, dental exams, minor restorative care, fillings, and even minor tooth extractions within the school setting. The clinic's location within the school will provide better access for the students.

JCSD would like to express its gratitude to Dr. Faith Polkey, Dr. Janet Stoddart, and Nurse Allison Jackson for their hard work in making this project a reality. A dental and health clinic is now available on both the Hardeeville and Ridgeland Campuses.

The Beaufort-Jasper-Hampton Comprehensive Health Service team is committed to making quality healthcare accessible to everyone.

SC Department of Education School Climate Survey

The South Carolina Department of Education is asking parents of students in Pre-kindergarten through 12th grades to participate in a School Climate Survey for their child/children’s school. Each parent will have an opportunity to fill out a survey per student. Please take a couple of minutes to answer a few questions about how your child’s school is doing. Your child will receive a letter with a QR code that you may scan to complete the survey easily. You may use the Parent Portal (PowerSchool) app on your mobile device or a computer to complete the survey. You will need to contact your child’s school for login information. Teachers and students will complete the climate survey online during the school day. The deadline to complete the survey is Friday, April 12, 2024.

4k Registration is Open

Calling all 4K Parents! Pre-K Registration is open. If your child will be 4-years old by September 1, 2024, please consider enrolling them into our 4k Preschool Program.

School Board Member Campus Visit

On March 5, 2024, Board Chair Priscilla Green, and Superintendent Dr. Anderson visited Hardeeville Elementary and Ridgeland Elementary. Principal Jefferson and Principal Green took time out of their busy schedules to walk them through the halls. During the tour, the school's data walls were viewed and discussed. The two also had an opportunity to talk with students and staff. 

The visit went well, and our professional educators were teaching, and our scholars were engaged in learning!
