2023 Midwinter Meeting delivers!

An upbeat mood infused the 158th Midwinter Meeting as attendees, speakers and exhibitors crowded into McCormick Place for three days of exceptional continuing education and the latest in dental products and services.
More than 20,800 attendees -- dentists, dental team members, speakers, exhibitors, students and other registered guests -- came out for this year's meeting, excited to be together again as the dental community continues to build back from the pandemic.
Planning is already underway for the 159th Midwinter Meeting. Mark your calendars now for Feb. 22-24, 2024 -- a licensure year. You won't want to miss it!

Oral pathology case studies highlight CDS Regional Meeting

Registration is open for the first CDS Regional Meeting this year at Drury Lane in Oakbrook Terrace. Note that the day of the meeting is Friday, a departure from the traditional Wednesday.

Topic: Oral Pathology
Dr. Iglehart will speak on "The Saga of an Undetected Oral Lesion" (1 hour).
Dr. John Kalmar will speak on "Oral and Tonsillar Cancer: What about HPV?" (2 hours).

Check this off your to-do list! Pay your 2023 dues to the ADA before the April 1 cutoff.
Membership in the tripartite brings year-long benefits, through continuing education and other resources for you and your practice.
Current members who also enroll in auto-pay will again be eligible for early-bird registration in October for the 2024 Midwinter Meeting.

Help needed for dental colleagues in Turkey, Syria
With so many killed or injured in the devastating earthquakes and aftershocks in Turkey and Syria, donations are vital. Dentists and dental students throughout the region lost homes, offices, equipment and more in the February disaster. Efforts are underway to mobilize aid and equipment in the months ahead.

Oral Cancer Institute presents symposium on oral oncology

A half-day symposium on oral oncology will be presented Saturday, April 29, at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, Olsen Auditorium, in Chicago.
The Oral Cancer Institute’s symposium is geared toward dental and medical providers and focuses on the diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of the oral and oro-pharyngeal cancer patient. It will highlight multidisciplinary care and provides an overview and update on the prevention and management of oral and oropharyngeal cancers. Presenters are Program Chair Mohammed Qaisi, DMD, MD; James Murphy, DDS, MD; Sharon Perlman, DDS, MPH; and Polina Gubareva, DMD.

CDS Foundation plans March 29 webinar on Wrigley grants

CDS members and 2nd- and 3rd-year dental students interested in applying for Healthier Smiles Grants through the CDS Foundation can sign up for a webinar this month to learn more about the process.
The webinar is planned for 7 p.m., Wednesday, March 29. Registration is required and can be done online here. The informational webinar will explain how to apply for the 2023 cycle of the CDS Foundation/Mars Wrigley Healthier Smiles grants for up to $5,000 and discuss program and reporting requirements.
