February 28 Meeting Notes
Was held at the Manasquan Fire House on Abe Vorhees Drive, Manasquan. Our usual Club charge of $5 was donated to the St. Barnabas Burn Center in Livingston NJ in their name.

At the meeting, plans were made for JSRC to joyfully march in the upcoming St. Patrick's Day Parades. We march behind our banner and hand out candy along the routes. It's a fun time and everyone is welcome to come and march with us. See parade information below.

This meeting also had a special guest speaker, Renata Pac, Director of PT at JAG Physical Therapy. She discussed stretching and injury prevention for runners, dynamic (before run) and static (after run) stretching to avoid injury and various remedies and exercises for a variety of the most common injuries. She was very informative.

Other discussions included:
The Spring Lake 5 Interest in the race this year led to the race filling up on the first (and only) day of registration, February 5, in record time. The race has grown into one of the country's biggest and best running events. Over the past 16 years, Friends of the Spring Lake 5, Inc. has donated over $1,800,000 to local charities, volunteer organizations, town initiatives and Spring Lake Recreation. Thanks to The Friends of The Spring Lake 5, a limited number of entries will be available through charitable organizations, to be posted on the Charity Partners page at
The E. Murray Todd Half Marathon's rolling hills and how it is one of the toughest halfs you'll ever do.
FARC St. Paddy's Day 8K's race distance change to 8K. The race takes place at Michael Tigue Park in Freehold. Runners needed. But if you cant run, you can volunteer! JSRC does bag check and finish line support so please show up.
Bar A Kilt Run/Walk A fun Gio production with kilts, food and fun.
Tutu 2.2 held at the Wall Complex is a race that benefits Rescue Ridge Pet Rescue and adoption
Indian Trails 20K & 10K It's a hard race. "If you do this at the start of your season, the rest will be easy"
RunAPalooza  this is a Big Big Big JSRC event on the calendar. Can use volunteers. If you are running and want personalized bib, get registered by mid-March - Prices go up this week!
JSRC's Lake Como 5K for Children's Cancer. This makes a great recovery run after RunAPalooza.

Meet Our New Member
Mary Rower, RN LCSW
I've just joined the JSRC. I have only run for a year and have completed three 5K races. I'm anxious to find some advice on how to continue my interest and love of running from the club and attend some of the local events.

I ran the RunAPalooza and Lake Como.  My goal is to try and get to a 10K eventually, but would love a little advice.
