I have a neighbor who's battled breast cancer for a very long time. She was diagnosed at the tender age of thirty while serving as a soldier in the Army. Now that she's sixty, she's battled breast cancer so long that it has become a part of her daily routine.
But while talking with her the other day, she shared some bad news. The chemo medicine she has been taking for a number of years is no longer working to fight off her cancer, and her doctors are removing her from any further chemo treatments. They told her there is nothing else they can do, and she's now in the hands of God.
But my neighbor said hearing the news that her life was now in the hands of God wasn't surprising to her, for it had always been in his hands. For during her thirty year journey as a breast cancer survivor, she told me about the many times she almost died, and how God allowed her to recover. She also told me about the number of car accidents she's experienced, and how God spared her life every time. Thus, she wasn't afraid of dying now that she would no longer be on medication, for she had been in God's hands all along.
Like my neighbor, your life as a breast cancer survivor is ultimately in the hands of God. So whatever challenges you face today as a survivor, remember - He's got you!
Sharing the journey,
Jeaninne
