Hello Jan,

Below is a letter from Tonya Miller, our Missions Coordinator. At our Christmas Eve services, we will receive one of our two annual special offerings for mission. You are encouraged to watch the video message above. Thank you for making March to the Manger part of your end-of-year generosity.

Each year, the March to the Manger offering supports foreign missions. The goal has been to invest in Economic Empowerment Programs to help the pastors in Guinea and Liberia so they can provide for their families while also being able to minister effectively to their congregations and community.

  • The Beehive Project - Most of the pastors in Guinea and Liberia receive little or no salary from their local churches. We have some pastors, due to age or disability, which will need salary support, but many are finding financial independence through your generosity. We have nearly completed the beehive project but have 15 left to go out of 67. Each beehive and suit is $410.
  • Tailoring Program - Several of the pastors’ wives qualify for the tailoring program. This program provides a sewing machine, fabric, and supplies and teaches the women how to be tailors so they can also help earn income for their families. The cost is $350 per person.
  • Palm Tree Project - Churches that have land can plant palm trees and then harvest the oil to provide income for the churches to help pay their expenses, maintain their churches, and offer local programs to spread the gospel. Each bag we purchase for $50 contains 65 seedlings and will cover an acre.
  • Motorcycle – Pastor Yankee is need of a new motorcycle as the district had theirs stolen. It will help him and other pastors reach the congregants and other members of the community. The motorcycle will cost $1,500.
  • Collegiate HOPE Scholarships – We have 4 HOPE graduates that have asked for scholarships to attend college. Our congregation has already sent one HOPE graduate to college, Faith Maomy, and she is now a practicing nurse. Each graduate needs $700 per semester for 2 semesters per year.

The needs listed are just a few of the overall requests that came in this year. After looking through them all, these stand out has having the biggest impact for the pastors, congregants, and communities we serve in Guinea and Liberia. It is a big ask, totaling approximately $26,000, however, each item will provide immense returns and a sustainable future for everyone involved.

On behalf of the people of Guinea and Liberia, I want to thank you for your generous support. Merry Christmas!

Because People Need Jesus,
