St. Patrick's Day Parade!


Join Worcester for this community-wide celebration, which features floats, bands, color guards, clowns and boosters of Irish heritage.  In true parade fashion, you'll get to see a host of local heroes including firefighters, teamsters, children, beauty queens, elected officials and revelers. The parade begins at Mill Street and Park Avenue at noon and ends at Highland Street. Free.

First Saturday of the Month Volunteer Days at Broad Meadow Brook
Join us on this Saturday morning for wildlife-related volunteering activities. Maintaining habitat and monitoring populations are part of managing the largest urban wildlife sanctuary in New England. Spring through early fall we look for butterflies and dragonflies, take care of bird feeders, and battle invasive plants. Open to adults and families with children ages 8 and older. International Women's Day 2017

Craft of the Month: Moldable Sugar Scrub


This craft is especially cool for any mentors with teenaged Littles! It is a homemade recipe for a sugar scrub, a popular exfoliating face scrub! Mold them into whatever shape you like! You will need:
  • 1/2 cup coconut oil
  • 1/2 cup melt-and-pour soap
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 5-7 drops of lemon essential oils
  • gel food coloring: kelly green, leaf green, yellow (optional)
  • shamrock silicone mold (optional) 
  • microwaveable bowl
  • spoon

Sledding Map MetroWest
Is there snow on the ground? If so, sledding is an active and FREE activity that can take you and your Little outside for a snowy thrill. 
Locations include: the thrilling sled at Jericho Hill in Marlborough, a former ski slope; the fun for all ages hill at Callahan State Park in Framingham; and a bunny hill at Johnson School in Natick.

Wednesday Volunteer Day
Help care for the sanctuary and enjoy a few hours of fresh air, fun and fulfillment. Come once or every week and become part of our growing group of sanctuary volunteers. Together with Sanctuary Director Deb Cary and other Mass Audubon staff, put up signs and markers, look for wildlife tracks, pick up branches, and fill the bird feeders. Projects are primarily outside. Some tasks may require heavy lifting. Ability to work without supervision required. Carpentry skills welcome. Nature lovers appreciated.

Exhibition: Bandits and Heroes
Exhibit explores the ways that ancient cultures of Africa blended with indigenous and colonial Portuguese traditions for more than 500 years to form the vibrant cultural mosaic of modern Brazil. These diverse cultures have contributed to the resilience and vitality of the people of the Northeast of Brazil. Their inventive works of popular art-sculptures, paintings, prints, religious objects, toys and booklets of poetry-draw visitors into the complex culture of the Northeast, the economically poorest region of Brazil but one with a rich cultural heritage.
