If you get excited at the idea of covering everything you own in rhinestones and sequins, your heart beats faster at the application of ruby red lipstick, or you just want to hear an audience's screams and whistles, this may be the life for you! We are always looking for experienced performers, jugglers, clowns, puppeteers, magicians, singers, MCs and all other forms of burlesque, vaudeville and variety!
We are looking for independent performers as we are not a troupe so you can perform when it's best for you and your schedule. There's no obligation and we do not limit your involvement in other productions as we are non-exclusive.

Greetings!
The big news this month is of course the Southern Fried Burlesque Festival March 10-13, 2011, which is bringing performers from all over the world to Atlanta for a weekend of amazing classes, shows, panels, and other events. We're so excited about the Festival we can barely contain our glee and are already making plans for next year to make it even bigger and better!
We also have a ton of shows coming up this month after the festival so make sure to check out the calendar and the listings below as some of them are touring shows and Syrens of the South may be coming to a city near you! If you're interested in having a private class, performance or some Syrens for atmosphere at your next event or party please contact us for availability and rates. We hope you all had an amazing Valentine's Day and we look forward to spending this year with you!

Southern Fried Burlesque Fest
Tickets are going fast for the First Annual Southern Fried Burlesque Festival! The Class schedule has been posted, we've added a Friday night after party and student showcase in addition to the three big shows, Legends Panel to learn and ask questions from the greats and Dr. Sketchy's Atlanta will be taking place at the festival as well! All of these events are included in the weekend pass which go up to $200 at noon March 1st!
Weekend pass holders have first go at all the classes, non-weekend pass holders will have to pay $25 per class if there is still room. With out the weekend pass the Legends Panel, After Party and Dr. Sketchy's Atlanta will be $10 per event.
We are also pleased to announce that Jo "Boobs" Weldon and Jonny Porkpie will be having a book signing at 3pm on Saturday after their classes. The Burlesque Handbook as well as Jo's videos along with the new paperback version of Jonny's novel, The Corpse Wore Pasties, will be for sale at the festival provided by Eagle Eye Book Store. Autographs are free with purchase or weekend pass, otherwise there is a $5 fee.

Tease University March Classes (TEASE U)
ABCs & 123s of Burlesque at Pera Dance Studios
March 6th: Undress Rehearsal - Are you performing in an upcoming student showcase or just want to get a critique on a new number? If so this class is for you. Have multiple opportunities to do your number and get helpful hints and suggestions from the professionals and your peers to incorporate into your number to take it to the next level. This class is required for anyone participating in the next student showcase.
March 13th: NO CLASS - Southern Fried Burlesque Fest Weekend
March 20th: NO CLASS - St. Patrick's Day Weekend
March 27th: Intro to Burlesque with Katherine Lashe - She will present information on the history of burlesque, followed by a how to on the basic moves and creative process that goes into making a burlesque persona. Students will hear anecdotes collected by Katherine Lashe from actual Burlesque American Icons such as Tura Santana, Satan's Angel and more! They'll also answer the age old questions of names, fringe, and pasties! Students will be encouraged to wear lose fitted clothing and comfortable shoes (we suggest heels if you can comfortably wear them) and be prepared to not only take notes, but also be ready to practice beginning burlesque movements and peels!!
Burlesque Cardio at Spinarella Pole/Dance/Fitness
Thursday nights from 7:45-8:45pm come get your shimmy on with Katherine Lashe! Find your inner burlesque star while shaking off those calories with this dance class!
The weekly hour long class will include warm ups, struts, shimmies, shakes and strip tease. Wear comfortable clothes that you can move in, gloves and heels are recommended but not required. This class is accessible for all skill levels and there is no nudity in any of our classes.
There will be no class on March 10th or 17th.
