Take Action Now
Demand Representation:
Spur Miami-Dade County Delegation into action for Everglades Restoration

Senate Bill 10 and House Bill 761 instruct the state to stop stalling and purchase land for storage south of Lake Okeechobee. Southern storage is the key to reducing the harmful discharges to the Caloosahatchee and St. Lucie estuaries and restoring adequate water flows to the Southern Everglades, Biscayne and Florida bays -- this will help mitigate the effects of Sea Level Rise!

Let your legislators know we need these bills to pass so we can:

1)Respond to the state's water crisis
2)Restore much-needed water flows to save the Everglades
3)Assure drinking water for 8 million South Floridians

This  environmental goal is within our grasp.  Light a fire under the Miami -Dade County delegation. Their support is crucial to ensure this important legislation passes.

Write your representatives and ask your friends to do the same -- forward this email.

Attend: Art Nite @ TAS during SoMi Art Walk
"Birds in their Habitats" Opening Reception
Friday, March 10, 6-8pm

The period parlor at our historic Doc Thomas House headquarters is transformed into a vibrant art gallery as Southwood Magnet Art Students present their paintings in an exhibit titled "Birds in their Habitats." The mixed media show conveys the Middle Schoolers' unique respective visions of their subject.  Their research and study of their feathered subjects  gave these 6th, 7th, and 8th graders a  newfound appreciation for the range of species inhabiting South Florida's varied landscapes.

The opening night reception also features our Donation Bird Bar.

"Birds in their Habitats" will hang through March in our recently designated "Florida Heritage Site" 1932 cottage.

Bonus: Park for free on our Steinberg Nature Center grounds via the 55th Avenue entry gate and use TAS as your ArtWalk home base for a gallery-hopping stroll into town.

Thirty percent of the proceeds from the sale of all art benefit Tropical Audubon Society.
