Grantee Feature - Margalo Guo

A Life Changing Opportunity!

The Community Arts Partnership is thrilled to support artists like Margalo Guo through our Strategic Opportunity Stipend (SOS). SOS exists to give artists the chance to advance their careers and participate in opportunities and events they otherwise wouldn’t be able to afford. It is through grants like this that CAP is able to help keep Ithaca’s art scene vital.

Margalo is a 20-year-old muralist and oil painter based out of Ithaca and State College, PA. She's done several oil paintings and murals in both cities, earning herself an impressive and stunning portfolio.

She applied for our SOS grant to fund travel and lodging for an opportunity to paint a mural in Miami at the A-Wall mural event that occurs during Art Basel. Art Basel is an initiative that focuses on connecting collectors, galleries, and artists, drives forward the careers of artists and supports the arts.

"Coming from Ithaca, it was shocking to meet so many amazing muralists who travel city to city doing murals full time! I had no idea. This was an incredible experience that has changed my life. I am still in awe."

Friday, June 6th, is Gallery Night!

Come on down, 5pm to 8pm

Visit downtown Ithaca for Friday's Gallery Night events.

At the CAP ArtSpace, we are hosting "Queer Visions, Queer Voices.," a group exhibit organized by the Ithaca Pride Alliance that features art from eleven members of our community exploring a vibrant and diverse spectrum of queer experiences and identities. Through paintings, sculptures, photography, installations, and performance art, queer artists were invited to express their unique perspectives and lived experiences and celebrate the beauty and complexity of queer identities.

Location: CAP ArtSpace, 110 N. Tioga Street, (Tompkins Center for History and Culture, on the Commons)
