Scam Alerts and Helpful Reminders
| | |
Be aware of potential scams targeting our 4-H community. If you receive an email or text message from someone claiming to be a 4-H volunteer, member, or leader asking you to urgently transfer money or make an overdue payment, THIS IS A SCAM. Our volunteers will never request money without first speaking with you directly over the phone or in person.
If something feels off, take a moment to double-check the sender’s email address—scammers often use addresses with slight misspellings or unfamiliar names. Be cautious of unexpected attachments or links, especially if they pressure you to act quickly or provide sensitive information.
Another red flag is unusual payment requests, such as gift cards, wire transfers, or payment apps. When in doubt, do not respond or click anything—instead, independently contact the 4-H office using the official contact information listed on our website to verify the request.
