CCL exists to create the political will for climate solutions by enabling individual breakthroughs in the exercise of personal and political power. -- Mission Statement

CCL Virtual Earth Day Conference
Sat, April 25, 2020
10:00 AM- 1:00 PM PT

Please join Citizens’ Climate Lobby to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Earth Day. Hear from climate leaders, learn about actions we can take and get trained. Attend from home and (virtually) bring a friend!

Schedule:
10:00 AM PT - Keynote speaker Dr. Katharine Hayhoe, world-renowned climate scientist, evangelical Christian, and host of the podcast, “Global Weirding”.

Phone: 1-646-558-8656; toll-free at 1-877-369-0926. Enter 563-867-729 as the meeting ID.

10:45 PT - 3 easy actions you can take from home to help the climate right now.

11:00 AM PT - Choose ONE of the four breakout sessions . Breakout lengths vary from 1-2 hours in an individual Zoom meeting room.

1. Climate Advocate Training [two hours]
For those brand new to Citizens' Climate Lobby, this training will give you tools you need to be an effective climate advocate as well as a strong background in our organization. You’ll learn how to build constructive relationships with elected representatives and other leaders, get the details on the Energy Innovation and Carbon Dividend Act, and discover the variety of actions you can take to work with others on building political will in your community.

Phone: 1-646-558-8656; or 1-877-369-0926. Enter 874-055-969 as the meeting ID.

2. CCL Volunteer Spotlight Panel , Moderated by Peterson Toscano, Citizens’ Climate Radio Host [one hour]
We pride ourselves on trying to build the broadest coalition possible, which means we have climate advocates from all different walks of life. Hear what has brought them to climate action and how they communicate n their communities.

Phone: 1-646-558-8656; or 1-877-369-0926. Enter 580-767-407 as the meeting ID.

3 . Climate Organizing During the Pandemic [90 minutes]
CCL staff will cover working with Congress, best messaging about climate for our outreach and media work, ways to be in action from home, and how students can continue their climate work off-campus. Our work has changed in these dramatically different circumstances and yet opportunities can be found in every situation. Our climate work must go forward!

Phone: 1-646-558-8656; or 1-877-369-0926. Enter 563-867-729 as the meeting ID.

4. Depolarizing Within: A Better Way to Prepare for Climate Discussions, presented by Better Angels [two hours]
A surprising aspect of today’s epidemic of toxic polarization between climate advocates and climate skeptics is that much is driven by how we talk with like-minded people about those on the other side. Too often we stereotype, dismiss, or ridicule our fellow citizens who differ from us in their perspectives on climate change. How we talk among ourselves about them fuels fires that threaten the progress of climate solutions. Become more aware of your inner polarizer, learn to depolarize yourself and acquire skills for intervening in social conversations with like-minded people when they veer into contempt and ridicule for people who hold other views.

Phone: 1-646-558-8656; or 1-877-369-0926. Enter 749-637-911 as the meeting ID.

This is where CCL, our super radical organization, positions itself: smack dab in the radical middle

The Far Middle is the radical idea that we need to work together to solve our biggest problems, like climate change. After all, what are the chances that one side has all the exact right answers, and the other side has all the exact wrong answers? Exactly zero.

We’re authorizing Democrats and Republicans in Congress to work together, at a safe distance, on climate solutions. Our future depends on it. Not right. Not left. Straight ahead.
Now, more than ever.
