Love Lives in Marin
Monthly Challenge - March

Love Lives in Marin is an initiative of the Marin Interfaith Council designed to nurture a positive, welcoming environment in Marin, and cultivate a culture of love throughout the county that reshapes our public discourse.

A part of the  Love Lives in Marin movement is a monthly challenge that offers opportunities for residents to engage and promote a welcoming and inclusive community.

Do our words and actions speak welcome, inclusion, and compassion here in Marin County? There are wonderful people living in our communities with incredible stories!  These challenges will not only highlight amazing people in Marin, but also inspire us to make our community better for everyone!

---------------------------------------------

For Women's History Month (March), we challenge you to
get out in our community and learn about the history of women's rights, and engage with groups/campaigns aimed at promoting dignity, and safe spaces where all women can thrive.
We've provided a few suggestions to get you started.

"When there are no ceilings, the sky's the limit. So let's keep going - let's keep going until every one of the 161 million women and girls across America has the opportunity she deserves to have."
-Hillary Clinton, 2016 Presidential Candidate, Prior Secretary of State and First Lady

The Green Corner

Welcome to the Green Corner

The Green Corner is inspired by members of the  Marin Interfaith Climate Action

From time to time we will be presenting earth friendly & environmentally friendly events & tips on how to lower your impact on our mother earth .

This month's highlight:

Join the Clean Green Energy movement!

Inspired by Helene and Sarah of Clean Energy Advocates, some of the Marin Interfaith Climate Action members have taken on the challenge to ask their own houses of worship to convert to 100% green energy through Marin Clean Energy's Deep Green program.

Did you know all of Marin County's 12 municipalities have gone Deep Green? We are the first county in the state to do so! Together, all have eliminated an estimated 3,570 metric tons of pollution, or the EPA equivalent of "removing 764 cars from the road in one year."
See this link to MCE's newsletter/press release   HERE.

Many Marin congregations, spiritual centers & agencies are considering the switch. Congregations such as First Presbyterian Church of San Anselmo, Westminster Presbyterian Church, and First Presbyterian Church of San Rafael are either already active participants or are in the process of converting to Deep Green.

First Presbyterian Church of San Rafael found out they will eliminate 14 metric tons of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere per year! Ralph Purdy from FPCSR said "Going Deep Green with MCE is really very easy. You simply go on the MCE website with your electricity account number and fill out the application for deep green."

Call MCE at 1 (888) 632-3674 for more information or if want a precise calculation for your congregation or agency or visit  #OptUp .

We are so fortunate to have clean energy advocates here in Marin County! It may seem like a small step but when many take the step together, it adds up.
