Marin Teen Girl Conference Empowers Young Women with Record-Breaking Attendance

Young Women Find Community and Strength at Marin Event

San Rafael, CA, March 6, 2024 – The Marin Teen Girl Conference (MTGC), held on Sunday, March 3rd at The Embassy Suites in San Rafael, concluded with a resounding success, drawing a record-breaking number of attendees and fostering a vibrant space for empowerment and connection among young women.

This year's MTGC, themed "Radiate Your Power," welcomed over 240 enthusiastic teens from across Marin County. The day was filled with engaging workshops led by inspiring facilitators, covering topics such as financial literacy, finding your career passions, STEM, healthy relationships, and nutrition.

Conceived and overseen by the Marin Women's Commission, the MTGC stands out for its distinctive approach. Guided by a committed group of Teen Girl Ambassadors, the program is tailored to address the particular needs and interests of young women across Marin’s diverse communities. With a collaborative strategy in place, every aspect of the conference is carefully curated to deeply connect with the attending teenagers.

Ambassador Surabhi Chinta said “I really enjoyed being a part of such a tight knit team, working to create something amazing! I feel like I also got the chance to push myself out of my comfort zone and develop new skills regarding outreach and event organization I didn't previously have.” Ambassador Annie Hamel, followed up “I loved being able to see all the girls support each other and create a safe space to be themselves.”

In addition to support from sponsors around the community, the Marin Community Foundation provided a Changemaker gift, along with annual sustaining funding from Marin County and a grant from the California Commission on the Status of Women and Girls. "I'm proud to have been this year's keynote speaker at MTGC. Educating teens on the health and sustainability aspects of the beauty industry to ensure they're informed consumers is my passion. It was an honor to join dedicated volunteers, exhibitors, and workshop hosts to support this transformative event. It was truly inspiring to see the tremendous impact of this workshop, empowering and celebrating these girls who are the leaders of tomorrow” expressed Jeannie Jarnot, Founder + CEO, Beauty Heroes®.

The conference also featured a dynamic Teen Trailblazer Hall with 22 exhibitors showcasing resources and opportunities relevant to teen girls' interests. From Marin Sanitary Service to OD Free Marin, and Marin Free Library to the Karma Club, the expo provided a valuable platform for attendees to connect with organizations and businesses dedicated to their well-being and future success.

"The energy and enthusiasm at the MTGC were truly inspiring," said Leslie Belingheri, Chair of the MWC.  "We are incredibly grateful to the dedicated facilitators, exhibitors, volunteers, and sponsors who contributed to making this event such a positive experience for the young women of Marin. It wouldn’t be possible without your support."

The MTGC team is committed to continuous improvement and welcomes any feedback from attendees and facilitators. A brief survey will be circulated to gather valuable insights for shaping future conferences.
