Marine Renewable Energy Collaborative News
December 23, 2013
Welcome from the Director

Welcome to the Marine Renewable Energy Collaborative (MRECo), a non-profit corporation dedicated to developing offshore renewable energy (Wave, tide and wind) in New England. Many are aware that I retired this year from the University of Massachusetts and the center there that I founded. MRECo will continue the industry development work that I was doing at UMass, helping companies commercialize new technologies and bridging the gap between academia and industry. We have several demonstrations in the planning stages and are working with both the International Conference on Ocean Energy (ICOE) and Energy Ocean to ensure the wealth of research and development being done in New England gets the exposure it warrants. I look forward to continuing our mission and working with many of you in the new year. I wish you a Happy Holiday Season and Prosperous New Year.

Yours truly, John R. Miller

Request for Information Regarding a Proposed Funding Opportunity for Administration of a Wave Energy Converter Prize

December 20, 2013

The purpose of this Request for Information (RFI) is to solicit feedback from industry, academia, research laboratories, government agencies, and other stakeholders on issues related to the use of a prize competition for advancing the development of new and next generation wave energy converter devices. The Office of Energy Efficiency & Renewable Energy (EERE) is specifically interested in information on any obstacles or challenges that could limit stakeholder interest in applying to the proposed FOA for the administration of this prize competition. In addition, EERE is interested in gaining an understanding of the number of potential candidates who would likely have the qualifications, expertise, and experience to successfully administer a WEC Prize competition. This is solely a request for information and not a Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA). EERE is not accepting applications.Click here for direct link.
