The Monthly e-Newsletter for Catawba County's Existing Industries

Recent good news you may have missed in the last few months:
I would like to draw particular attention to the first article and to this month's cover photo of the newly-opened Workforce Solutions Center at Catawba Valley Community College.  This facility and its ability to impact talent development and talent retention can be a "game changer" for our community.

I would highly encourage the management teams from any company to reach out to the staff of K-64 to arrange a personal tour; they are very happy to show off this new facility and the multitude of ways they can aid in your company's efforts to develop and retain the best local talent.

We hope you enjoy this (almost) Summer issue and please feel free to reach out to me directly if you are in need of any assistance.

Sincerely,
Nathan Huret

Marine for Life Employer & Veteran Networking Event

Marine for Life Networking Event
Thursday, June 20th @ 5:30-7:30PM
Kickback Jack's in Hickory
RSVP

The Marine For Life Network (M4L) connects transitioning Marines and their family members to educational resources, employment opportunities, and other Veterans services that aid in their career and life goals outside of military service.

Our local region, under the leadership of Major Joe Greene (704-616-7519; [email protected]), is hosting a networking and employment event for employers and veterans from all branches (not just Marines).

Whether you are looking to hire Marines and/or Veterans, seeking employment and exploring opportunities, or to simply network, this is a great opportunity to connect in an informal setting.

If unable to make it, you are still encouraged to connect with Major Greene, as he can be a great resource to connect your employment needs directly with transitioning military talent in the area.
"Selling Home" Drop-In

Thursday, June 20th
11:30AM - 1:30PM, Drop-In
Hickory Metro Convention Center
Free, with lunch provided

Over the past year, our office, the Chamber, and many others have heard that you need high quality community "sales materials" that show your top talent prospects and/or clients what it's like to live, work, learn and raise a family here.  As a result, these partners have gone to work.  Please make plans to "drop-in" on Thursday, June 20th for lunch and a "one-stop" opportunity to discover all of the resources now available that you can utilize to complement your efforts.

So, if you are an HR leader, a commercial/residential realtor, a property manager, etc., we hope to see you on June 20th.
