Guardian of Small Business Award
I’m proud to have earned the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) Guardian of Small Business Award in the 116th Congress based on my strong, pro-small business voting record. The Guardian of Small Business is awarded to members of Congress who vote with small business 70 percent or more of the time on key small business issues. I thank the National Federation of Independent Business for this prestigious honor.
Puerto Rico Recovery Efforts
Last week, I joined U.S. EPA Administrator Andrew Wheeler, Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez, and Mayor Juan Carlos Bermudez in a roundtable hosted by the Florida State Hispanic Chamber of Commerce to discuss ongoing recovery efforts in Puerto Rico following the hurricanes and earthquakes that have severely affected the island. I’ve been a long-time champion for Puerto Rico and have successfully pushed for resilient construction and funding to assist in its recovery process, and I’m grateful for the great work that the EPA and Administrator Wheeler have contributed to these efforts.
A Consistent Foreign Policy Toward Dictatorships in our Hemisphere
I published an op-ed in the Miami Herald regarding dictatorships in our hemisphere and the need to have a consistent foreign policy toward them.
This morning, my Deputy Chief of Staff and District Director attended the kickoff ceremony for the JC Bermudez Doral Senior High School and the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Andrea Castillo Preparatory Academy. As the City of Doral continues to grow and expand, I'm glad that Miami-Dade County Public Schools and our local leaders have remained committed to ensuring our students receive world-class education and resources. I congratulate Mayor Juan Carlos Bermudez and District 5 School Board member, Susie V. Castillo for this important accomplishment.
I remain committed to my constituents and ensuring they are equipped with the knowledge and resources to protect themselves from public health emergencies such as this one. To keep up with live updates, connect with me on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Instagram, or visit my website for any constituent services I am able to provide you with.
