The Y Weight Loss Program is designed to help you become more aware of your existing health behaviors and equip you with the skills and knowledge to develop your own plans to realign those behaviors so that you can achieve your weight loss and healthy living goals. With the support of the group, you can expect weekly discussions, idea sharing and the opportunity to apply what you learn in daily life.
The YMCA Weight Loss Program supports and assists participants in ways that help make small, modest improvements in healthy behaviors. We do this by providing information and encouragement and creating an environment where participants can discover their own paths to positive change.

Welcome back Marion Family YMCA Dolphins Swim Team! Last school year we took a hiatus from having a youth competitive swim team. When the season would normally have started, we were without an Aquatics Director or coach. Rather than put someone on deck to coach who wasn’t qualified, we made the tough decision to take the year off.

Justis Davis came onboard as our Aquatics Director one year ago. Over the summer, he brought back the Dolphins for a short season and now we’re back in full force for the school year with 31 young people on the team.

Swim Team is one of my favorite Y programs. It exemplifies our work in youth development. As young athletes, swimmers learn to set goals, to experience achievement and to experience a loss. They learn that the lesson that you get out of an endeavor what you put into it. Coaches become positive adult role models, something every young person needs. And of course, they are getting exercise while having fun. Swim Team is also a great family activity. Y swim teams depend on parent volunteers in holding meets and raising funds that support the team. Thank you parents!

If you haven’t experienced a large swim meet, stop by the Y on Saturday October 5. We’re hosting an Invitational and expect over 100 athletes from around the region. This will impact our building schedule. On this day, we will have just two adult lap swimming lanes available early 7:15 – 8:00 am. The 8 Lane Pool will be closed the remainder of the day. The North Gym will also be closed to house the athletes when they aren’t in the pool.

Good luck to all of our Marion YMCA Dolphin swimmers! Welcome back to the Y!
