Hi, Readers!

Welcome back to our monthly Newsletter! NJ Folklife at Perkins (formerly Perkins Folklife Center) is celebrating the “art of everyday life” through our partnership with the New Jersey State Council on the Arts and the five Folklife Centers of New Jersey. Our mission remains the same: to shine a light on folk artists and tradition bearers who keep our communities vibrant, and to share untold or overlooked South Jersey stories.

Special Highlight

This summer, it’s time to Dance It Out! The Perkins World Stage series brings six weeks of exhilarating outdoor dance parties, celebrating diverse cultures from West Africa to the Andes, samba to country, and beyond. We caught up with four of our incredible dance mavens—unique cultural icons at the heart of their communities—to learn what inspires them and get helpful tips for us newbies. Find out how to clear your calendar and join the movement every Tuesday from June 24 through July 29! Click here to read their stories and prepare to dance.

NJ Folklife at Perkins is a cosponsored project of the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, a partner agency of the National Endowment for the Arts.
