CSCA

Let's Rejuvenate Our PTSA

As a senior parent, I'll admit I'm looking ahead to college. There's a part of me that's already over high school. I could just let it go. But I feel a deep debt of gratitude to TCS, the teachers and staff who have shepherded my kid from a wary ninth grader to a young person ready to take on her adult life. That's something I know other young people need in a way that our big neighborhood high schools can't provide. In looking back at our board roster from 2019, it makes me sad to see that our board was flush with members in all executive and committee positions. I know we're all weary from three pandemic years, but our school matters now more than ever. TCS needs our active support. Won't you help us rejuvenate the CSCA? We need people willing to step into the following positions:

  • President
  • Co-President
  • Co-Secretary
  • Communications/Dragon's Fire
  • Membership
  • Recruitment & Retention
  • Volunteer Coordinator
  • Direct Drive/Fundraising

If you can serve, please contact member chair, Monica Payson, at monica@paysley.net.

15 Life Skills Every Teen Should Learn

High school is a time for our kids to become independent so they can move into adulthood. That means giving them the room to make mistakes, and work out issues for themselves. But it also means providing the practical skills they need to be able to become independent. Read more.

Bulletin Board

The Bulletin Board section publishes information about art, photography, film, theater, writing, and other programs and competitions outside of TCS that might be of benefit and interest to our students. The Children's Film Festival Seattle (February 3-12, 2023) is looking for its next Youth Jury! Over the past 18 years, Children’s Film Festival Seattle has become the largest film festival on the West Coast dedicated to children and their families.

Each year, more than 25 youth ages 8-18 participate on youth-led juries to view films and award official prizes to CFFS' short and feature films. Youth are the ultimate decision-makers on these panels, which provide an excellent opportunity for NWFF’s young film lovers to sharpen their critical eye and have meaningful opportunities to engage with other youth.

We are seeking a diverse youth jury pool from throughout Washington State, who are representative of the inclusive, multicultural priorities of CFFS, and its mission to inspire empathy, understanding, and a nuanced view of the world.
