Whether you're Medicare-eligible or under age 65, open enrollment is the time of year when you can select a new plan.  Don't miss out on this opportunity to compare the new plans and pricing available to you for 2016.

Medicare Open Enrollment runs from October 15 through December 7, 2015.  During this timeframe you can switch between Original Medicare and Medicare Advantage, change Medicare Advantage and Prescription Drug Plans, and join or drop your prescription drug plan.  It is particularly important to review your prescription drug coverage if your medications have changed over the past year to determine whether another plan would offer less expensive coverage.  Note:  Medicare Supplement plans only are not subject to Open Enrollment restrictions.

Open Enrollment Begins Soon

Open Enrollment for individuals under age 65 is November 1, 2015, through January 31, 2016.  Plans will be effective from January 1 through March 1, 2016, depending on the date of your enrollment.  Even if you are currently enrolled in an ACA-compliant plan, plan choices can change from year-to-year.  This is the time to be sure that your current plan is still the most cost-competitive and includes the benefits important to you.  If you do not enroll in a new plan during Open Enrollment, you are not eligible to enroll until the following year unless you qualify for a Special Enrollment Period - i.e., marriage or divorce, permanent move, or losing group coverage.

If you received a premium subsidy in  2014, you must  read this. You were required to file a Form 8962 with your 2014 tax return.  If you didn't include this form with your tax return, you must provide it to the IRS immediately. You risk losing your premium tax credit in 2016 if you don't comply. "Going out on your own as an independent contractor is as scary as it is exciting.  A critical part of becoming an entrepreneur is taking care of your family and making sure you have the right insurance coverage.  Lorraine came highly recommended by a friend of mine, and right off the bat I knew the help she would provide would be invaluable.  Her insurance expertise combined with her professionalism and diligence made the humongous task of getting healthcare insurance manageable.  With Lorraine's help I was able to identify a plan best suited for my family and get approved in short order.  I would HIGHLY recommend Lorraine and her services to anyone in need of getting insurance coverage.
