The Mequon-Thiensville Community Foundation (MTCF) is pleased to announce that Steve Peterman is this year’s recipient of the Pillar of the Community award. According to MTCF Board President Lori Lorenz, “I can’t imagine a more deserving individual to receive this award. From his humility to his leadership and commitment to service, Steve is a true unsung hero of Mequon-Thiensville. The impact he has had epitomizes what it means to be a Pillar of the Community.”
Steve's commitment to his community is boundless and spans the course of five decades. It started when he joined the Mequon Jaycees in 1971 and his involvement and service mushroomed from there, serving on countless boards and committees, giving of his time and talents as a licensed architect, being a charter member of the Mequon-Thiensville Sunrise Rotary Club, playing a pivotal role in the design and development of both the Riverwalk and Gateway projects; the list goes on and on. But central to all of Steve's efforts was a love of community and a resolve to embody the Rotary motto: service above self. It goes without saying that we have all been graced by Steve's selfless commitment to service throughout Mequon and Thiensville.
Steve and his wife Darcy have three grown children and four grandchildren. Steve will be honored at MTCF’s signature annual fundraiser, the Pillars of the Community Luncheon.
