Just the word "Thanksgiving" brings back the aroma of turkey, dressing and all the trimmings being prepared for our 2B family last Wednesday evening.

Even as we gave thanks for our bounty of food, we were aware that not everyone would enjoy a Thanksgiving feast. And most facilities would not accept our leftover food since it was not cooked on their premises.

That evening our Chef Robert shared with us that he was taking food to Riley's Barber shop in central Lubbock, inviting the homeless to their first annual Thanksgiving dinner and receive a free haircut.

Well, the Lord works in mysterious ways because we had more than enough to feed our 2nd B family, and also contributed to the Thanksgiving Dinner at Riley's. There was enough to feed everyone that attended and were able to enjoy a full Thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings. We also provided food for Family Promise and 2 home-bound 2nd B families.

God is good and he opened a door for us last Wednesday evening! It is our hope that 2nd B will partner with Riley's Barber Shop again next year.

Why I Go To The Adult Retreat.

When I first went on the retreat, I went alone only knowing a couple of people.  I'm pretty independent and just wanted a quiet retreat. Instead, I met the most lovely people and was invited to eat with others at each mealtime, which made the retreat so much more pleasurable and interesting. Besides meeting such wonderful people, I learned so much from our speaker. I have continued to attend because it has become one of my favorite weekends of the year. I look forward to a weekend away to get the new year started, to visit with people and, most of all, to be challenged by amazing speakers. We couldn't have a better location than Santa Fe for the quiet walks, beautiful weather, and the variety of stores and restaurants to wile away a few hours. I truly believe it's one of the best thing our church offers spiritually.
