The Week Ahead
Monday July 13 through Sunday July 19
Astrological Highlights for the week:
The Sun in Cancer opposes
Jupiter in Capricorn on Tuesday and confronts Pluto in Capricorn on Wednesday.
Hold onto your knickers, the next eight days could be quite the cosmic ride. The Sun in sentimental and sensitive Cancer is moving into perfect opposition with those planets in formidable Capricorn. The Crab can run and hide but no matter how quickly we do the Cancer side-step, it’s going to be difficult to maneuver around this intensely focused energy. Maybe the first question we should be asking ourselves, is why do we want to?
These oppositions are part of a bigger and more complicated picture that is dominated by both slow and fast moving planets transiting through the assertive cardinal signs of the zodiac, namely Capricorn, the sign of structure, organization, business, government and authority. With the planet Pluto, aka the Transformer, in this sign since 2008 we can’t pretend to be much surprised that profound change and evolution is occurring in banking, business, government, and organizational structures. Pluto has had them in his sights for more than a decade. But this week it gets personal with the Sun in Cancer involved. I’m definitely hearing strains of Sam Cooke’s “A Change is Gonna Come” resonating throughout the zodiac!
The Sun in astrology is our ego, our sense of self and identity. Like the planets revolving around the Sun, the astrological Sun is the center of our personal universe. Although our “Sun Sign” is only part of the picture, it’s a very important piece pointing to the characteristics and attributes we identify as our own.
For most of the month, until the 22
, the Sun is in the emotional water sign of Cancer. This at least partly accounts for the intense focus on home, family, ancestors, country, history, heritage and tradition. (And you don’t have to be a Sun Sign Cancer to be under the influence.) We are super sensitive to our identification with all of the above. Of note is the fact Cancer DEFINES family through choice, rather than just identifying with blood relations. When you see protestors for “Black Lives Matter” of every color, race, ethnicity, and age group, you begin to see the influence of Cancer. Think back on other slogans including “We are Columbine” or “We are Newtown.”Our identification with other people, with ideas, and causes is by choice.
Although we have predispositions, our sense of self and identity may be more amenable to change than we believe. Nurturing Cancer and her association with motherhood may conjure up ideas of unconditional love and squishy boundaries, but don’t be fooled. Like Aries, Libra, and Capricorn she is an assertive cardinal sign that is an initiator and can build strong fences with “Keep Out” signs prominently displayed. Maybe more than any other sign, Cancer is aware of who belongs and who doesn’t, who is included and who should, according to her rules and criteria, be excluded.
These strong principles of identity, who we are, who is family, and what we stand for are challenged over the next eight days as the Sun opposes Jupiter on Tuesday, Pluto on Wednesday and Saturn the following Monday (July 20
) all in Capricorn.
Think of it as an opportunity to gaze more deeply into your psyche. No judgments, just look. If you find yourself getting defensive, protective, inclusive, exclusive, wanting to withdraw or join, build walls or tear some down, these are all signs your identity and sense of self is being stretched. We can expect these challenges will come with some strong emotions and inner questions.
2020 holds more than its share of pivotal moments when we get to decide whether we will be the change or the changed. This week we have the opportunity to look more closely at our personal and collective identity. Do we like it? What will we evolve and why? Will we be on the cutting edge? Will we be the destiny shapers or the holdouts? What is worth keeping and what needs to be revised? Will we be the change agents that usher in the organizational and structural changes required by Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn? And better yet, what the heck is in store for us when Jupiter and Saturn transit through social reforming and revolutionary Aquarius starting in December? 2021 may be here sooner than you think!
“Example is not the main thing in influencing others. It is the only thing.

Until next week, let go and wear loose clothes.
Moon in Aries/Taurus
Moon goes Void of Course at 8:54 am, enters Taurus at 10:34 am
The Moon in Aries wakes up feeling a bit stifled this morning as it squares organized and disciplined Saturn. This Moon energy is feeling rebellious and maybe even a tad victimized. “Following our bliss” is sound metaphysical advice; but we might be a bit confused about what really makes us happy. Satisfying immediate desires feels good in the moment, but may prove foolish later in the day. We might want to re-think that second supersized chocolate croissant at breakfast or a purchase that’s out of our comfort zone.
This doesn’t mean we can’t follow through on the urge; but try to be aware of the inner feeling that is driving you. If it’s anything close to “you can’t tell me what to do” or “you are not the boss of me”, or “poor me”, it might be a red flag we are acting out of defensiveness and not really listening to our true needs and desires. What are we trying to prove and to whom?
The early morning hours may be shadowed by confusion or doubt; but when the Moon eases into stable Taurus in mid-morning we feel more direction. Taurus puts us in touch with physical desires and also with psychological needs for feeling safe and secure. We are more willing to sacrifice convenience or immediate gratification in exchange for longer ranging goals. This translates into being more conscious of our consumption, and financial expenditures, and generally pushing to get more bang for our buck.
The Sun in Cancer is moving steadily towards an opposition to Jupiter in Capricorn shortly after midnight tonight (Pacific Time). We feel the growing tension of this resistance throughout the day. (Please read tomorrow’s write-up). Jupiter is whispering in our ear “you deserve more!” And indeed we do; but if we sit around thinking luck will simply land in our laps and/or that we don’t need to be willing to take a few risks to “work” an opportunity, then we are probably just being silly.
Productive and heart-felt conversations are on the agenda for this evening when the Moon connects with Mercury in Cancer. This might be a good time for family meetings to discuss budgets and future goals and for partners to express needs, worries, and expectations. Mercury is on board with sensitivity and a nurturing attitude and the Taurus Moon is ready to provide solid advice especially about financial issues and the use of resources. Taurus is a long-term planner too, patient while a plan develops and matures.
Loneliness does not come from having no people about one, but from being unable to communicate the things that seem important to oneself, or from holding certain views which others find inadmissible.

It happens early and it packs a wallop of an energetic punch for the rest of the day, and in fact, for the rest of the week and possibly further. We are talking about the Sun in Cancer opposing bigger-than-life Jupiter in Capricorn. Like all oppositions we are attempting to balance the competing needs of two psychological processes expressing through two astrological signs. The Sun resonates with our sense of self – our ego or personal identity. Jupiter is our desire to find more meaning in our lives – to identify patterns and philosophies that tie a number of contrasting and sometimes dissimilar pieces together in a whole we can understand. Good luck with that! This process is a life-long adventure and as you can imagine, it’s always changing and evolving as we learn and experience more of life.
This duo projects energy, enthusiasm, and confidence. Like Jupiter we want to expand ourselves and bring more meaning into our everyday lives. We yearn for inspiration and express our creativity. This desire builds confidence as we are buoyed up with a sense of hope and optimism. But it has its downside too, like lack of self-control, making promises we can’t keep, and a resistance to accepting responsibility. Jupiter needs a good dose of Saturn discipline to give structure to its hopes and dreams. Fortunately, with Jupiter in Saturn-ruled Capricorn we might find exactly the organization we need.
Another piece of today’s puzzle is Mars’ hookup with Chiron the Wounded Healer. Chiron in Aries struggles to feel worthy and deserving. The Sun’s opposition to Jupiter might be just the remedy we seek to turn away from self doubt and judgment and fan the flames of faith and self-confidence. Although the exuberance of Jupiter certainly requires a cool mind and a steady hand, we are up to the task. We can lasso this energy and bring it to bear positively in our lives with a little willpower and clear intention.
The take home message goes something like this. Don’t let your dreams wither on the vine, no matter how dire current events seem to be. Although this is a time to take responsibility, and there may be a surplus of family and friends that need your help, it’s important to maintain hope. Personal boundaries will come in handy too. Take care of yourself and prioritize your needs. Build some fun and whimsy into everyday.
Plan for the future and take action now. For example couples that are expecting a baby dedicate a room or a space just for their little bundle of joy. They may paint the walls, change out the furniture and bring in a crib and baby paraphernalia. Part of expecting a baby is preparing the space in their lives – physically and emotionally. If you are “expecting” something wonderful to happen to you, have you prepared the space? Are you ready to seize the opportunity when you see it coming? Don’t wait until the stork arrives on your doorstep. Take action now that is consistent with your short-term and long-term visions of who you want to be.
By the way, the Moon in stable Taurus is in for a little surprise first thing this morning when it merges with unpredictable and revolutionary Uranus. If your dreams seem to take on an unusual twist – go with it.
When prescribing one of the drugs I take, my doctor warned me of a common side effect: exaggerated, intensely vivid dreams. To be honest, I've never really noticed the difference. I've always dreamt big.

Moon in Taurus/Gemini
the Moon goes Void of Course 8:21pm enters Gemini at 10:19 pm
“Second verse, same as the first.” Well, not exactly, but we’ll certainly recognize the theme today as the Sun in Cancer opposes Pluto, the planet of change and transformation, in Capricorn. I told you this was going to sound familiar. This is a more psychologically challenging energy than yesterday’s Sun opposing Jupiter, and fortunately, we have an emotional assist from the Moon. In earthy Taurus, the Moon makes a series of comforting and positive alignments with dreamy Neptune, expansive Jupiter, the Sun and Pluto, and also with Saturn (also in Capricorn.) This could go a long way toward easing the tensions we may feel with the Sun and Pluto at odds with each other.
I remember reading in an astrology book long ago, the description of Sun opposing Pluto as an indication of “psychological realignment.” The term struck me as somewhat amusing, probably because I could use some realignment myself! There is no getting around the fact this is a strong and personally challenging energy. Pluto represents a profound ability for not only change but for transformation.
When we are ready for it, it can be a welcome adventure. When we’re not so receptive, we may intensely and jealously try to resist the change by controlling and manipulating others and our environment. We do this in a futile attempt to hide our vulnerability and find the protection we believe we need. We may feel overly sensitive to criticism or anything that remotely resembles disapproval. The more out of control we feel, the harder we fight to maintain the status quo, even if this place is painful and generally ineffective and unsatisfactory.
We may notice this energy manifesting more obviously on a worldly or public level rather than on a personal one. Take note of your feelings and pay attention to what attracts or repels you, and what you resist. You don’t have to go deeply psychological with this energy, but if you want to, you certainly can; Pluto rules the mysterious and psychologically complex sign of Scorpio.
The Sun opposite Pluto is the energy of change. Many people would like to imagine themselves as change agents. In some circles it’s certainly a prestigious label to have! If you have a desire to influence others or society as a whole, and if you want to be a positive change agent, try to foster altruistic and humanitarian ideas. Pluto is a planet of power. How will you use yours? We often find a heightening of our influence and power when we align with the sentiments of our milieu and work towards the advancement of the group rather than looking for ways to meet only our own needs.
Today we might experience the beginning of an important change and/or the culmination of a period. Pluto has a way of balancing the scales and this energy could be the quickening. We may be quickly approaching critical mass where important changes are inevitable.
The Moon’s entry into chatty Gemini inspires some interesting and provocative late night discussions. Stimulated minds may find it hard to wind down.
As far as we can discern, the sole purpose of human existence is to kindle a light of meaning in the darkness of mere being.
Under the influence of an inquisitive Gemini Moon we might be willing to talk about some deep and personal insights emerging over the last few days. This is especially true this evening as we feel energized by a lunar connection to Mars in Aries. Lively conversations are appealing or we might be motivated to sit down to compose a provocative blog post or letter to the editor.
Some may be ready to spin the wheel of fortune taking a risk on an idea or behavior that has long been simmering on the back burner. A change of venue is appealing which could mean seriously looking at changing jobs, an office or home address, or even contemplating an important change in a relationship. This runs the gamut from taking it to the next level, moving in together, getting engaged or married or considering a separation, breakup or divorce.
To be clear, it’s not simply the Gemini Moon that’s pushing the envelope today and tonight. The Moon’s hookup with Venus, the planet of values, helps things along as we feel more attuned to what’s in our hearts. Most likely if we are considering significant changes in our lives, it’s a culmination of energy that has been manifesting and building all year, and certainly brought to a head this week with the solar oppositions. Perhaps we see things more clearly and with Mars the planet of action in courageous Aries, we feel ready to do something about our feelings and desires.
Remember to look up at the stars and not down at your feet. Try to make sense of what you see and wonder about what makes the universe exist. Be curious. And however difficult life may seem, there is always something you can do and succeed at. It matters that you don't just give up.
(Stephen Hawking – Mars in Aries)
Moon in Gemini/Cancer
Moon Goes Void of Course 2:15 pm enters Cancer Saturday 7:24am
The Gemini Moon is fully engaged today encouraging conversations, learning, teaching, reading, talking, networking and connecting. This morning is particularly well suited for sharing knowledge, mentoring, or studying under the tutelage an expert.
In mid-afternoon the Moon squares illusionary Neptune and then veers into a void of course pattern for the rest of the day, evening, and night. The Neptune connection can cause a bit of confusion, or simply put us into an altered state of consciousness. This should be a good time for spiritual practices, journaling or enjoying a movie or escaping into a book. Interactions with others may bring up more questions than answers. It’s a good time to fantasize about options rather than making decisions. We can save that for tomorrow night when the Moon meets up with Mercury.
You can’t let your failures define you – you have to let them teach you. You have to let them show you what to do differently next time. (Barack Obama – Moon in Gemini)
Moon in Gemini/Cancer
Void of Course enters Cancer 7:24am
We are listening to old music, looking at photos and memorabilia, and feeling nostalgic in the last days of the lunar cycle (New Moon on Monday July 20). The Moon is drifting through its home sign of sentimental and traditional Cancer. As a nurturing and emotional water sign Cancer tends to be attached to the past and deeply rooted in her history. Astrologer Raven Kaldera describes this Moon in its final phase in Cancer as the “Keeper of the Memories.” What we need to remember though, is to hang onto the positive ones and selectively release the others.
When we hang on too tightly to the past it’s rather easy to get into judgment of ourselves and others or to conjure up fears of the future. With the Moon meeting up with Mercury this evening, this is a good time for some sincere communications with family and friends. Focus on heart-felt communications and activities including sharing positive stories and good memories.
This is also a good time to focus on forgiveness. We don’t need to rewrite the events of our past we feel ashamed of or that bring up negative emotions. We don’t need to rewrite the past in order to forgive it and move on. Being honest with our feelings is a good first step. Through this clarity we are better able to determine what comes next.
Hello, I'm Leonard Nimoy. The following tale of alien encounters is true. By true I mean false. It's all lies. But they're entertaining lies and in the end, isn't that the truth? The answer is no.
– Moon, Mars, Jupiter and Pluto in Cancer)
The day is off to an energetic start with Mars in gung-ho Aries squaring the Moon in Cancer at daybreak. We may have a hard time balancing individual needs with those of family and housemates, but the pull of the Moon in domestic Cancer is likely to prevail or at least permeate throughout the day.
This evening the skies are relatively dark as we approach the New Moon tomorrow morning. A lunar alliance with dreamy Neptune makes it a perfect evening for escape into a great book or movie. We are ready to alter our consciousness and break away from reality. The tendency to overindulge is strong with the Moon opposing abundant and expansive Jupiter. Keep this in mind if your flight into another dimension includes drugs, alcohol or even food. Intention may be strong, but will power is weak.
There is no need to go to India or anywhere else to find peace. You will find that deep place of silence right in your room, your garden or even your bathtub.

Sunday is the 12th and that makes it our favorite day of the month! 12Day brings sales out of the woodwork . We offer the lowest prices on 12listen and 12Academy brought to you by the worlds coolest psychics! Come and join us.
Today started off like any other day. We had a few plans, things that needed taking care of. My wife was going to do laundry. I had emails to return, a meeting to attend, calls to make and writing to do. It was one of those days that doesn't tax the mind the night before, but certainly makes one aware that there are necessities to see after. After our morning routine, which includes playing with our dog, feeding our dog, and in general fulfilling our dog’s every whim and pleasure, my wife descended into the basement with the laundry. I soon heard my name being called. I hoped that all my wife wanted was to look up the stairs and see my smiling face, but that was not the case. There was water in the laundry room.
We've been through the drill before. Some basement water has been horrific; some hasn't been quite as bad. Everything comes to a screeching halt when this occurs. No using the bathroom unless absolutely necessary, no showers, and certainly not making any plans because suddenly the world revolves around the arrival of the plumber. There's always some resentment when this happens. This is quickly followed by resignation to our fate, which leads to the sinking in of the reality of the whole mess, as there’s not much that can be done until the problem is rectified.
The plumber came, saw and conquered. Thankfully this wasn't one of the major bio-hazards that can happen when water backs up. There's always something to be grateful for, plus we found a great company in the process.
It occurs to me that what happened today is a lot like life. We go along day after day without much happening that is out of the ordinary. The days turn into weeks and those into months with most of what we experience being planned or certainly navigable. Then something comes along that brings us to a screeching halt and makes us reassess what it is we are going to do, what we can do and what lies ahead. Once we've decided, all we can do is wait until things play themselves out.
This entire year feels to me like water in the basement. It's been a messy and unwelcome set of events that have necessitated the cessation of almost everything social. Of course, some people can live with water in the basement. It doesn't mean that they don't have a dangerous situation brewing, but those kinds will often only deal with it, if it can still be dealt with, when it becomes absolutely necessary. Most people, however, simply do what needs to be done, taking care of the chores and realizing that sometimes the unexpected can overshadow future plans.
Luckily, this year is halfway over. The harvest season is coming soon and after that, we’ll be heading toward the end of the year. Every day that passes brings us closer to solutions and a safer world. A proverbial plumber has been called and all we can do is wait and see how things work out. We know for a fact that a remedy will come and we’ll see change, it's just a matter of time. Realistically speaking, all we can do is not fight against reality and ease our minds into the waiting. In the meantime we must carry on and be as cautious as we can be.
With the right attitude we’ll all be fine. Astrologically speaking, I'm hoping for some breakthrough in late September, but if it takes longer, so be it. There's no use fighting that which we cannot change. At any rate, it may give me time to take an online plumbing course, although I think it might drain me.
Until next week, I wish you all peace and love.
Take a look at our manifesto. Click picture to enlarge!
I have a new grandson! He was adopted three weeks ago, and he is a month old today. He is a little miracle that came out of the blue, totally unexpected. When I found out he was ours, I was in a dilemma, I wanted to go see him, but I didn’t know how I could because we are in the middle of a couple of big projects that have created extra demands on time, energy and finances. So, I resigned myself to waiting until August when they come for a visit. But then my son called and asked if I could come for a week because they needed help with the kids and that ended my dilemma.
Prior to him calling, I had been focused on NOT having the time and resources to go and it felt terrible. Once I decided to go, I immediately felt better, my focus had shifted, and I absolutely knew that everything that needs to be done will still get done even if I am gone for a week. This is something that I experience all the time. It is called Supply. Supply is not just money, but it is whatever we need as we need it, time, ideas, support, the best price on something I want to buy, etc
We are the individualization of Source which is the Source of EVERYTHING, so lack, limitation, and smallness are not natural to us. They go against our Divine Nature which is why they feel bad. Supply is Spiritual, it is flowing Life energy. We carry our supply with us, it is our Infinite Consciousness. To experience it we must get into
flow by giving, taking leaps of faith, and trusting that we will be supported.
Supply is Source meeting us where we are and meeting our needs as they arise. When my husband went to book my flights, he found that he had a $200 flight credit, so my round trip ended up costing about $66. That is supply, or as I like to call it, a kiss on the cheek from God
Have a very blessed week
Welcome Magickal Beauties!
Welcome, Beauties, to another edition of
Thank you for joining!
Today, we will be looking at the week ahead, as well as
celebrating Mercury going direct!
If you'd like to watch my latest video on the 4 month
The wonderful part about Mercury going direct is that it will be in Gemini (higher rulership Mercury). This means, Mercury in Gemini is a very compatible position that can enhance communication, partnership, siblings and support. It can enhance all the aspects of Mercury and really bring this strong sense of community spirit and fun that we have needed.
Let's also not forget the esoteric implications: connection to Spirit. We have lately felt very disconnected, because planet Mercury is our connection to the divine. When it goes retrograde, we feel lost and disappointed. We feel cut off from hope.
Well, no more! Hope and connection are back. Add Neptune's sobering retrograde to the mix, and we are going to receive incredible direction for our future! We are going to get excited and have a plan that allows us to feel empowered once again.
This couldn't come sooner! A few months into this pandemic, and we are all now starting to grieve the losses of this year. We need hope. We need love. We need to feel united and to feel like there are things we can do to better our existence.
The good news: it is coming! The Light and the Truth are coming!
By the end of this week, we will have shifted from Gemini Season to glorious Cancer Season. This will be so healing for all of us. Cancer season will bring a healing, magickal and loving energy to the world that will make us feel more comfortable and safe. We will feel at home. We will feel and focus on health. We will focus on what home means for us and pursue it to no end.
Just like Dorthy in
The Wizard of Oz
, there is no place like home!
And as Mars continues it's forward motion in the sky, moving away from Neptune's confusion, we will also begin to feel more confident in our actions. This placement has been hard and difficult for months. We all have good intentions, but not certain how to make our dreams a reality. Moving these two planets apart means more effective actions, confidence and self-trust. We will know, without a shadow of a doubt, what we need to do and how to do it!
All around, this will be an exciting week that brings answers.
We will leave the darkness and step into the Light.
