The Allegheny County Parks Foundation
, in partnership with
Allegheny County
, has constructed four livestock shelters at
Round Hill Park
to protect the animals from hot sun and inclement weather. Two shelters were built for sheep, one for cows and one for horses. They’ve been placed in the park’s pastures.
The Parks Foundation secured funding from the Peaceable Kingdom Fund of The Pittsburgh Foundation and it was matched by Allegheny County.
Round Hill Park in Elizabeth features a demonstration farm with cows, pigs, sheep, rabbits and other livestock. Other amenities include soccer fields, shelters, a spray park, walking and bridle trails and a duck pond.
