Dear Unitarian Universalist Members and Congregations of Maine,
As the legislative session winds down at the end of June, we invite you and your congregation to wind up your tutus and rainbow flags and join us in marching in the upcoming Pride Portland! Parade.
As we have since 2014, the Maine UU State Advocacy Network has registered for the parade and invites members from all Maine UU congregations to join in marching together. Participants are encouraged to bring signs, banners, or other symbols of support. Don't forget to wear your rainbow colors and MUUSAN t-shirts!
Last year, our contingent included about 40 people from 8 congregations. Let’s grow those numbers this year! The parade will start at noon on Saturday, June 17th. We will gather at around 11am at First Parish before finding our designated spot in the parade line up. The parade will wind through the streets of downtown Portland before ending at Deering Oaks Park.
This is a joyful and festive celebration and we encourage participants of all ages to attend. Let’s show the world that the Unitarian Universalist community stands for love, equality, and inclusivity. And let's have some fun while we're at it!
Please get this date on your calendar and share the invitation. For questions or to let us know if your congregation will attend, contact Reba at admin@muusan.org
