JOB DESCRIPTION:
Applications are being accepted for the Welder-Fitter classification in the McDuffie Maintenance/Fabrication Shop. Individuals in this classification lay out, fit, and weld metal and forged components to repair, assemble and fabricate structures and coal handling equipment used to move coal through the McDuffie Terminal according to blueprints, engineering drawings, diagrams, work orders, oral instructions, and knowledge of welding and metallurgy. Selects equipment and plans lay out, assembly, and welding, applying knowledge of geometry, physical properties of metal machining weld shrinkage, and welding techniques. Lays out, positions, aligns, and fits components together. Bolts, clamps, and tack-welds parts to secure in position for welding: Obtains specified electrode or consumable electrode wire and sets amperage, voltage, slope, and pulse.
