We hope this newsletter finds you and your family all well. It has definitely been quite a start to 2022.

We have seen some positives; the pandemic yielding reduced numbers and restrictions easing, but unfortunately we are also seeing many areas of great concern; the rise of interest rates, high inflation, geopolitical tension and devastating market reactions.

The conflict in Ukraine has unsettled people and markets around the world. Our thoughts and prayers go out to those most impacted by the conflict. Though the situation continues to evolve, we want to provide you with some items that you may find of value at this time.

Rising Interest Rates -

What does this mean?

On March 2nd, there is a very strong chance that our rock bottom interest rates will begin to rise and this may greatly hurt those already struggling to make ends meet.

Restructuring & consolidating debt may be something to consider but the most effective solution is to reduce spending wherever possible.

Busy Start to the Year

We have had a very busy start to the year and we wish to thank all of you that have connected with us to have review meetings, update your plans & make your RRSP, RDSP and/or TFSA deposits.

Due to this and some regulatory changes behind the scenes, we may be a little delayed in getting your recap letter out to you. Rest assured, it will be on its way shortly.

Important CRA Update

Employment & Social Development Canada (ESDC) issued a taxable payment of $500 to older seniors in August 2021. ESDC started issuing the related T4A slips in January 2022. A small number of clients received an incorrect T4A slip, with duplicate amounts in boxes 018 & 205.

Please be advised that due to delays, some may receive their paper slips for the CPP, OAS and one-time payment for older seniors after the end of February. All slips will be mailed by the week of March 14. Electronic copies of these slips are already available on My Account.
